Photo of mother's bedroom makes netizens "panic"

What's inside the room that netizens are talking about so much?

Recently, the online community has been sharing a photo of the mother’s room, attracting a lot of attention and discussion. Because the things inside the room make many people “panic” but are also very familiar, can be found in many families.

Accordingly, the owner of the photo posted it in a group and said: “My mother’s room. I don’t know if she’s okay, but I’ve advised her to keep it tidy. I’ve cleaned it up over and over again, but it’s back to the way it was.” Along with that is a picture of a small room, cramped space, but filled with a lot of stuff.

The room makes many people feel claustrophobic because there are no windows, and there are piles of bags, blankets, clothes, etc. Overall, the room is very messy and not neatly arranged. Even looking at any item, it feels like it hasn't been used for a long time, dusty and old.

Not only that, the bed was also placed in a corner, the passageway was just enough for one person. In front of the bed was a clothesline, interspersed with an electric wire extended to hang a dangling light bulb. Many people said that just looking at this room made them feel suffocated and did not understand how they could live in such a small space and not be tidy.

However, netizens also said that in reality, these are not rare rooms, especially for the elderly. Many people expressed that when their parents were young, they had a habit of hoarding, and even if the furniture was old or broken, they would keep it until the end to repair it instead of throwing it away and buying a new one like young people today. Therefore, over time, it will gradually accumulate and become a warehouse, but if the children throw it away on their own, they will be upset.

Not only that, the association of children also said that the psychology of the elderly often wants to have a sense of security. That is, any necessary objects will be around the person so that they do not waste time looking for them, can still be remembered and easily retrieved. Moreover, because the space of the room in the photo above is too small, sometimes it is difficult to make it neater and cleaner.

Some comments from the online community:

- “This scene is so familiar, I am also too familiar with my grandmother's room. But that's how adults are, I can go in and clean the room, secretly put away all the things but it's still the same.”

- “The room is too small so it seems a bit difficult to keep it tidy. I will probably have to add more cabinets and shelves to store things, but that will probably only last for a while. This is a habit, the elderly often regret it, they want to keep everything so it becomes messy again.”

- “ The elders are so good at that. They even keep plastic bags in a bunch, let alone other things. When my grandmother was alive, it was the same. Her children and grandchildren cleaned it all the time but it still didn’t get any more spacious.”

- The surface is piled up stuff, but the underlying psychology is hoarding disorder: feeling safer surrounded by things you have accumulated. So the solution (maybe) is to create reasonable storage space and for every thing added, something must be removed.

- “It’s a common situation. So, as long as your parents and grandparents are still healthy and happy, that’s fine. Seeing that, we should clean up for them, because they’re used to it and it’s hard to change.”
