South Korea lifts one of its final anti-epidemic restrictions as the Covid-19 situation stabilizes.
Speaking at a meeting on Covid-19 response, Deputy Minister of the Interior Han Chang-seob stated that the above regulation will take effect on March 20.
The decision came as the number of new daily Covid-19 cases in the Northeast Asian country continued to decline, down to 11,401 cases on March 14.
South Korea is making face masks mandatory on public transportation such as buses, subways, taxis, as well as in hospitals, pharmacies and other high-risk places, after the government lifted the rule on wearing masks in enclosed spaces on January 30.
With the latest announcement, the mask wearing regulation will still be maintained in places with high risk of infection such as medical facilities and pharmacies.
