In the first week of June, An Giang province officially completed the target. This brought the total number of localities without temporary housing to 21 provinces and cities. Meanwhile, some localities such as Lang Son and Tien Giang are still reviewing to plan support.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Nhut, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, to achieve the above results, An Giang province has seriously and fully implemented the Prime Minister's directives in implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses such as: establishing and perfecting the Steering Committees at all levels; implementing typical house models suitable for the locality including 8 models and directing agencies, units and districts, towns and cities to thoroughly grasp the viewpoint and urgently implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Nhut, in the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, localities mobilize charity house building teams to support the construction of houses to reduce costs for households and build more solid houses. Localities mobilize religious organizations, relatives, and clans to support additional funding, labor, and construction materials, etc.
In Tay Ninh, the movement is closely linked to sustainable poverty reduction. On June 6, 2025, the Social Housing Steering Committee and the Provincial National Front Steering Committee held a summary conference. From 2021 to April 22, 2025, the province supported the construction of 1,555 solidarity houses and repaired 253 houses. This result contributed to reducing the poverty rate in the province by nearly 75%.
Many other provinces are also making efforts to speed up the progress. Tuyen Quang province is striving to eliminate 6,928 temporary houses, expected to be completed and put into use before August 30. In Ben Tre, at the 21st Provincial Party Committee Conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Council Ho Thi Hoang Yen also gave strong direction, setting the goal of completing the program before June 30, 2025.
