'Giant' sturgeon to be sold at Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025

(Chinhphu.vn) - Weighing up to 50kg and raised for 15 years, Siberian sturgeon of Duong Yen Cooperative will be connected for consumption during the 2025 Vietnamese Agricultural Products Week (October 24-25) in Hanoi.

Visitors will be able to directly admire, participate in bidding and have the opportunity to own a 50kg Siberian sturgeon, currently the largest sturgeon in fish farms in Lai Chau.

The highlight of the 2025 Vietnam Agricultural Week is the connection and consumption session of sturgeon - a familiar product in the meals of many Vietnamese families but introduced in a new way, associated with practical experiences. At the event, visitors will be able to directly admire, participate in bidding and have the opportunity to own a 50kg Siberian sturgeon, currently the largest sturgeon in fish farms in Lai Chau.

This "record" fish comes from Duong Yen Cooperative (Lai Chau), a unit with more than 12 years of experience in raising cold-water fish, supplying over 20 tons of high-quality sturgeon to the market each year.

The cooperative representative said that Siberian sturgeon only grows well in cold water environments, where the temperature is maintained at a stable 18-22°C, ideal conditions that help the fish meat to be firm, sweet and have a distinctive flavor.

Normally, a sturgeon must be cared for for nearly two years to reach an average weight of 2-3kg. Therefore, to have a "giant" sturgeon weighing up to 50kg, Duong Yen Cooperative has meticulously raised it for 15 years, considering it a "treasure" of the cold waters of Lai Chau. The appearance of this special sturgeon promises to become a unique highlight at the 2025 Vietnam Agricultural Products Week.
