On October 19, information from the National Cyber Security Association said that the preliminary round of the "Cyber Security Student 2025" contest hosted by the National Cyber Security Association, under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention - A05, with the theme "Data security and personal data protection" has officially ended.
The Vietnamese teams had an excellent day of competition when they took all 10 top positions.
Among them, BlueBox from the Cryptography Engineering Academy was the best team, conquering 18 out of 21 challenges with a total score of 2,679.
Coming in second place is Anhchaic2 from the University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University, completing 17 challenges and achieving 2,103 points.
Third place went to RUBY CHAN of the Cryptography Academy Branch in Ho Chi Minh City, who overcame 16 challenges with a total score of 2,040.
On the foreign side, teams TPC1 and TPC2 from Tsukuba University, Japan achieved the highest results, ranked 25th and 46th respectively. They were followed by teams f$NPwn3d from Yangon Computer University and Uchiha Myanmar from Myanmar IT University, ranked 51st and 55th respectively on the rankings.
Speaking at the opening of the preliminary round of the competition, Lieutenant Colonel Trieu Manh Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention - Ministry of Public Security, said that the competition is an opportunity for us to find seeds with high expertise in security and network safety, creating a generation of cyber security experts in the future, especially in the context of strong digital transformation like today.
In the future, cyber security will develop into a popular and important industry. Meanwhile, we are weak and lack high-quality human resources to ensure the security of important national information systems, as well as important information systems of enterprises, agencies and organizations.
Evaluating the results of the preliminary round of the competition, Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Head of the Technology Department of the National Cyber Security Association, Head of the competition's jury, said: "This year's exam is highly appreciated for its practicality and professional depth. The challenges not only test knowledge but also evaluate strategic thinking, situation handling and teamwork skills at an expert level."
The "Cyber Security Student 2025" competition is organized with more than 30 experienced experts, with many years of experience in domestic and international cybersecurity competitions.
Candidates competed and tested their skills by solving 21 cyber security challenges in 5 specialized topic groups, reflecting real-life cyber attack and defense situations.
The competition recorded a record number of 327 teams, bringing together 1,265 students from 35 domestic universities and colleges and 27 international schools in Japan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand.
After the preliminary round, the 20 best teams will continue to compete in the final round scheduled to be held on November 15. The highlight this year is the integration of the message of the Hanoi Convention into each challenge, spreading the spirit of cooperation - responsibility - sustainable development in cyberspace.
