Developing renewable energy projects
TH Group's strategy for reduction through sustainable development initiatives and projects includes: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, applying advanced technology, renewable energy... As a result, with many synchronous solutions and drastic actions, in 2022, TH's farm system reduced greenhouse gas emissions by an average of more than 20%/product unit, exceeding the set plan.
Right from the first clean fresh milk project, TH Group has invested in the world's most advanced technology. Since then, all TH activities have followed the principle of using environmentally friendly materials, green energy, renewable energy... with the goal of installing 2 - 3 MWp/year for TH's farm cluster. In the general trend of businesses looking for ways to use renewable energy to meet production development needs, while exploiting the dry and sunny weather of the North Central region, TH implemented the rooftop solar power project from June 2020. At the end of September 2020, the project completed the installation and connected to the national grid.

On the roofs of TH Fresh Milk Processing Factory or Dairy Farm Cluster, TH has installed solar power systems. This system not only creates green electricity, but also helps the Group save production costs, contributes to environmental protection, and ensures national energy security.
Accordingly, the Group is cooperating to continue installing rooftop solar power systems at TH Nghe An , Thanh Hoa, Da Lat cow farms... in the form of self-use. The solution of developing self-use rooftop solar power systems is being encouraged by the Government and the Northern Power Corporation. Currently, there are 6 farms using solar energy with an amount of electricity equivalent to 1/8 of the demand (in the summer, the supply capacity will account for 1/5 of the total demand).
After being put into operation, the rooftop solar power system helps the Group save 29,000 kWh/month, contributing to significantly reducing the amount of emissions into the environment. In 2022 alone, TH farm connected to the grid approximately 7 million kWh (meeting nearly 10% of the electricity consumed at the farm unit), equivalent to reducing/recovering more than 4,500 tons of CO2 /year.

In addition, in order to improve the efficiency of electricity use and participate in the process of saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions, TH Group is also researching and developing more biomass power projects at the Nasu Nghe An Sugarcane Factory with an expected capacity of 30MW in the period of 2023-2026, installing more solar power systems at home, at the Nghe An wood factory and other food factories of TH Group.
At the same time, TH also applies many solutions to optimize auxiliary energy for production activities such as electricity, water, and steam, to save costs for businesses as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the environment. For example, TH implements a project to recover condensate in some key equipment. The amount of condensate recovered accounts for 50-60% of the total amount of steam supplied for production, saving F0 oil for the factory. As a result, the electricity, oil, and water usage indexes in 2022 all decreased significantly compared to 2021. Some projects with a vision to 2026 that TH will implement include using biogas energy from the livestock waste treatment process to serve farm activities (heating water).
In addition, with new equipment line investment projects, TH always prioritizes choosing modern, energy-saving lines and equipment, environmentally friendly materials, and high efficiency.
Aiming for Balance, Net Zero
When reduction and conversion are practiced to the maximum extent, "absorption" is an important step towards the goal of balance, Net Zero. Currently, TH Group has been making efforts to plant many trees to absorb and compensate for the amount of CO2 emitted by the production process. With a development vision to 2025, TH Group aims to plant 10,000 trees/year with a survival and growth rate guaranteed at 90% of the number of newly planted trees. The area of green areas around TH's farms and factories is always covered every year with specific activities and figures. In the 2 years 2021 - 2022 alone, TH Group has planted nearly 50,000 trees of all kinds in the factory area.

The outstanding story and model that has contributed strongly to the process of moving towards Net Zero at TH includes the 2.8km long “Biological Fence” at Dalatmilk farm in Lam Dong which is continuously maintained, cared for and developed. Dalatmilk farm does not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, plants are grown naturally, creating a food source for insects, small animals and berry-eating birds, storks, etc.
The Group also cooperates with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, localities, and environmental protection organizations to carry out many projects on planting, restoring, protecting, and developing forests in provinces/cities of the country. For example, TH participates in sponsoring the project on Restoring Special-use Forests in Lang Sen Wetland Nature Reserve - Long An; Cat Ba National Park; the project on "Tending Forests on Rocky Mountains" in Van Ho, Son La, etc.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy - Head of the Coordination Board of the Sustainable Development Committee, TH Group said: In the future, the Sustainable Development Committee of TH Group will strongly implement the TH Green Tree Fund project to directly contribute to "absorbing" CO2 for the enterprise itself, helping to balance emissions and create many added values such as people's livelihoods, improving ecology, landscape, environment...
From its story on the journey to NetZero, TH Group hopes to inspire and motivate the business community and people to steadfastly carry out "Commitment with Action" in protecting the environment for a happy future for each individual and the whole country.
