VNPT is ready to operate and ensure communication to prevent natural disasters.

To proactively prepare for storm No. 3, since July 19, the Standing Committee of the VNPT Group's Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Command has closely followed the situation and developments of the storm and requested units in the affected areas to organize and deploy timely, effective and safe response plans.

Accordingly, VNPT requires units to regularly update information, closely monitor weather developments through the media, proactively check and review telecommunications network infrastructure, fully prepare materials, fuel, backup equipment, etc. to be ready to respond to situations, minimizing damage to information and property. During the implementation process, ensure the safety of staff.

The units also proactively grasp and promptly deploy information requests on public networks and specialized networks to serve the direction and operation of government at all levels; are ready to coordinate and support the Central Post Office to deploy information to serve the direction and operation of natural disaster response for working delegations of the Government and ministries and branches.

Ready to operate and ensure VSAT-IP network communications belonging to the specialized information network for natural disaster prevention, ready to deploy VSAT transmission lines for mobile broadcasting vehicles when requested.

By the morning of July 21, VNPT units in provinces/cities affected by storm No. 3 had arranged backup supplies at telecommunications stations and telecommunications stations. At each telecommunications station of VNPT, there were 1 to 2 teams ready to respond to information and 2 additional rescue teams for Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.

At the same time, 10 radio rescue teams are always on standby, ready to increase resources to support recovery in key areas.

VNPT provinces/cities have completed the inspection and review of infrastructure, means, and information rescue tools, and have allocated supplies and supplemented reserve fuel for telecommunications and radio stations.

VNPT Group also requires VNPT provinces/cities to closely follow agencies and authorities according to new administrative boundaries to be ready to deploy and meet communication requirements to serve the direction and operation of storm response.

Currently, VNPT has prepared a transfer plan to ensure safety for stations in low-lying areas at risk of flooding; a plan for roaming mobile services between network operators has also been prepared.

VNPT has also arranged 24/7 staff and 100% of staff on duty to respond to information to ensure information on the main routes, ready to deploy mobile broadcasting vehicles, strengthen disaster prevention information assurance for authorities at all levels, and promptly handle arising network incidents.

Viettel strengthens infrastructure, ready to support customers during storms

A representative of Viettel Group said that the unit has consolidated its telecommunications infrastructure and is ready with backup plans, rescue plans and customer support.

Regarding telecommunications infrastructure, since the beginning of 2025, Viettel has developed detailed disaster prevention plans, ensuring that 100% of the executive boards at Viettel provincial buildings have two independent cable lines, and 100% of key stations in the transmission line are equipped with fixed generators.

Experienced staff are deployed at priority stations. In addition, 66 transmission channels, concentrated in Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang provinces are guaranteed to connect to the headquarters of the People's Committees at ward/commune levels.

In Quang Ninh province, cable systems to the command headquarters have been buried underground, ensuring stable transmission and smooth communication.

To prepare for storm Wipha, Viettel has prepared 4 on-site forces: on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means and supplies, and on-site logistics.

In addition to the provincial forces, Viettel has mobilized 100 BTS station and cable line information response teams; 150 fixed broadband subscriber incident handling teams; and 30 generator repair teams to support provinces affected by storms and circulation. Information response materials (optical cables, transmission welding equipment, satellite phones, etc.) in the provinces all have a high reserve rate.

Mobile broadcasting vehicles have been deployed in Quang Ninh, Hung Yen and Ninh Binh. Nine vehicles are ready to be deployed to affected areas.

All cable lines connecting the Northeast and Northwest regions have at least 3 backup connection directions, and cable lines in ward/commune clusters have 1-3 backup connection directions. Most of these are reinforced cable lines that can withstand the effects of natural disasters.

Regarding support for people, Viettel stores have been provided with generators, gasoline to maintain operations and support people to charge their phones. On July 21, Viettel sent warning messages to 2.5 million customers in the storm-affected areas and will continue to implement customer care programs and support communication services before and after the storm.

Viettel also affirmed that it will be ready to support customers 24/7 on multiple channels and platforms, applying AI technology such as Chatbot/Callbot to ensure quick and accurate responses.
