Speaking at the event, Mr. Hun Many, President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) and Vice President of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia (NPCC), warmly welcomed the sports delegations of 11 Southeast Asian countries to participate in the sports festival for athletes with disabilities hosted by Cambodia for the first time.
According to the Organizing Committee, the host country Cambodia has carefully prepared for the 12th ASEAN Para Games, from the opening and closing ceremonies, competition venues to welcoming sports delegations from other countries, ensuring the best conditions for athletes and members of the delegation.

Taking place in Phnom Penh from June 3-9, the 12th ASEAN Para Games attracted the participation of 11 Southeast Asian countries, including: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. According to statistics, a total of 1,453 athletes competed in this tournament.
The 12th ASEAN Para Games has 13 sports and 1 demonstration sport (not including medals in the overall ranking), including: Para-athletics, Para-swimming, Wheelchair basketball, Sitting volleyball, Para-table tennis, Para-badminton, Blind football, Blind football, Blind handball, Blind weightlifting, Para-judo, Boccia and Chess. The demonstration sport is E-sports.

The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the Southeast Asian Para Games has 159 members, including 16 delegation officials, 21 coaches and 122 athletes (including 2 guide athletes). The athletes compete in 8 sports, including: Athletics, Swimming, Weightlifting, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Judo and Boccia.
The goal of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation in this congress is to strive to win 50-55 gold medals and be in the top 4 countries in the medal tally, equal to the achievement at the 11th ASEAN Para Games, taking place in 2022 in Indonesia.
The opening ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games will take place at 7:00 p.m. on June 3 at Morodok Techo National Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) took place last May.
With the successful organization of the SEA Games, the host country Cambodia has been highly appreciated by public opinion, and at the same time, we believe that the spirit of solidarity, friendship, and "Sports - Living in Peace " will continue to spread at the ASEAN Para Games in the coming days.
