The Phase One XC has a compact design that photographers can take with them wherever they go. It is smaller than other medium format cameras and features a comfortable wooden grip.
The product comes with a Rodenstock HR Digaron-S 23mm lens that can only be focused manually, and this is also a fixed lens that cannot be replaced.
Because of the large sensor size, the device has a crop factor of about 0.64 compared to a full-frame sensor. This means that a 23mm lens on the XC is equivalent to about 15mm on a full-frame camera. Additionally, the 23mm lens has a maximum aperture of f5.6 and the lens barrel is compatible with 72mm filters.
The XC uses an image sensor housed in a 150-megapixel Phase One IQ4 or IQ4 Achromatic interchangeable digital back for black and white photography. The sensor measures 2.1 inches by 1.6 inches (53.4mm by 40mm).
Additionally, the 150MP images captured are a massive 14,204 x 10,652 pixels in size and incredibly detailed. Phase One says the sensor has up to 15 stops of dynamic range.
The camera offers shutter speeds from 1/1000 second to 60 minutes. The Phase One XC uses the manufacturer's electromagnetic X-Shutter, which features carbon fiber shutter blades.
The regular IQ4 sensor has an ISO range of 50-25600, while the Achromatic sensor can go up to ISO 102400.
The back of the XC is equipped with a 3.2-inch multi-touch display. The XC supports connections such as Wi-Fi, gigabit Ethernet, USB-C, and HDMI.
The camera is currently on sale for $62,490.
