Dong Nai mostly grows 3-season mango and Taiwanese mango. The province's mango growing area is nearly 12,000 hectares, concentrated in the districts of Xuan Loc, Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Cam My and Long Khanh city. Mango is currently one of the 5 crops with large area and output in the province, but the chain of planting, processing and exporting has not been built. According to the Dong Nai Statistics Office, in 2024, Dong Nai harvested nearly 119,000 tons of mangoes of all kinds. The main consumption market is export to China and domestic consumption. Recently, China has increasingly tightened the quality of agricultural products imported from Vietnam as well as other countries. Therefore, mangoes that want to enter the Chinese market through official channels must go through a strict control process, from the production stage to when they are brought to the consumer market.
Specifically, Dong Nai mangoes that want to export to China must build a clean production chain, in which 5 parties (farmers, scientists , businesses, banks, the state) are linked. If a clean, green production chain is formed, in addition to the Chinese market, businesses can export to many other markets such as Japan, Europe, Korea, etc. In addition to exporting fresh mangoes, Dong Nai should pay attention to attracting businesses to invest in processing mangoes into many other products such as drinks, dried fruits, dried fruits, cakes, candies, etc. to increase the value of mangoes. Deep processing of mangoes associated with available raw material areas will help gardeners not have to worry about product output and avoid the situation of oversupply and cheap prices.
Mango is the province's main crop. Building a production, processing and export chain is a sustainable development solution that requires gardeners to participate to increase the competitiveness of agricultural products.
