'The more you understand, the more you love' opens up from the human heart

There are books that you only need to read the first page to know that you should go to the last page. And there are works that you only need to read half a line to feel like you have lived through them. The book "The more you understand, the more you love" just released by two young authors Le Minh Huan and Luu Dinh Long is such a book.

The co-authors of The More You Understand, the More You Love are probably two names that are no longer strange to those who are interested in cultural, therapeutic, and life books, as this is their second book. But calling this a book about life skills would be too short-sighted, because in fact, this is a book written for those who have lived quietly, gone through youth, love, loved, let go, and then learned how to meditate and look at life in a sweet, wise way.

The more you understand, the more you love : step firmly towards your heart

The book consists of two main parts, divided into two almost different writing styles. " Huan's Story" is the first part, like a diary opened upside down, recounting the life of a boy who grew up in poverty but maintained his kindness in every step of life.

Each page is a slice of memory: a death anniversary of my father that I couldn't return in time, a lonely afternoon in Ho Chi Minh City during the pandemic, a time when I was a student working part-time and had a bandaged hand but still asked to stay because I didn't dare to lose the opportunity... Those stories, at first glance very small, but smolderingly bring with them many layers of emotions because they are written with all sincerity.

Le Minh Huan writes like a person who has never forgotten the past. His words bear the traces of a childhood without any embellishments, about the business dealings of mother and son for 15 years, about the father's eyes when they parted without a word. He does not try to heighten the drama, nor does he need to preach morality.

The power of this writing lies in the fact that it reminds people of themselves. It is a "me" who once stood silently in the corner of the house after a long phone call, who once folded clothes to go home to visit her mother after a long time of waiting, who once stayed up late to write an unsent message. There are things that only those who have gone through them can write like that.

The latter part of the book shifts to the writing style of Long, a layman. He tells fewer details, but more densely. Luu Dinh Long does not spread out his memories. He does not go into too many details of his life. Instead, his writing style is like leisurely clouds, like a gentle wind, with a bit of personal joy in the common joy. This makes it easy for people to find themselves in it, and then from "Long's words" come small pieces of memories that remain forever in the readers' full hearts.

Luu Dinh Long writes about letting go, about peace, meditation, forgiveness and the ultimate loneliness of each human life. His paragraphs are like worn stone steps underfoot, but also imbued with a bit of the gentle and pleasant Buddhist spirit. "Long's writing" also has lines that force readers to stop and breathe with all their good thoughts. His writing is as calm as the water of a well; anyone who calmly looks into it will see their own reflection. He does not show off his thoughts, but underneath there is hidden a vast inner strength. This proves that author Luu Dinh Long has lived long enough and contemplated enough to no longer need to react strongly, loudly, or hastily to everything that happens around him.

A warm, intuitive Le Minh Huan; a calm, deep Luu Dinh Long, these two writing voices blend together with empathy. That is the reason why, although the writing voices are different, the book is not divided in two, because the two authors do not stand on two sides. They stand on the same shore where people no longer argue about right or wrong but only ask: "Why have I forgotten love for so long?". The book's layout does not follow the logic of chapters but follows the rhythm of memory and reflection. Each part is like a stone placed down, helping readers walk slowly, step firmly towards their hearts.

The precious thing about The More You Understand, The More You Love is the sincerity that is not bound by form. That work does not use reason to make people believe, but uses life to make people remember. And people only love when they start to remember. Love a silent father who has never said the words "I love you" to his children. Love a strong mother who hides her tears behind her thin back. Love yourself for being too strong, or so weak that no one knows.
