According to Vietnam Social Security, recently this unit has sent out many warnings about the Social Security agency's trick of impersonating people to defraud and take advantage of people.

People impersonating Social Security agencies often target people participating in social insurance, health insurance and pensioners.

The tricks used by these subjects include: calling, texting, sending strange links, QR codes... to people to request personal information such as: Citizen ID number; Social Security number; bank account number...

The impersonators explained that the information was provided to serve the integration of social insurance books and electronic health insurance cards; integrating health insurance data with citizen identification cards for health insurance medical examination and treatment; updating the VssID application - Digital Social Insurance...

According to the report, on September 16, 2025, Con Lon Commune Police ( Tuyen Quang Province) received a crime report from Mr. K., Na Nua village, Con Lon commune, reporting the following: At about 9:00 a.m. on September 15, 2025, Mr. K. received a call from a strange phone number, introducing himself as working at the Department of Culture and Society, People's Committee of Con Lon commune, asking Mr. K. to contact a person named Tuan working at the Social Insurance of Na Hang district (old) to change the information of the pension book due to changes in administrative boundaries at the commune level.

Mr. K. then contacted the provided phone number. This person introduced himself as Tuan, an insurance employee of Na Hang district (formerly) who was directly in charge of changing Mr. K.'s information on the electronic pension book.

This person instructed Mr. K. to log into his bank account via the QR code provided by the subject. By 11 p.m. the same day, Mr. K. discovered that the money in his bank account had been transferred to another account with account number 0325768727 (VPBANK) with an amount of 1,130 billion VND. The case is currently being investigated and handled by the police in coordination with relevant agencies...

Faced with this situation, Vietnam Social Security also affirmed: The Social Security Agency has no policy of calling or texting to request participants and beneficiaries of social insurance and health insurance policies to provide and update information and personal bank accounts... to carry out procedures related to social insurance and health insurance.

At the same time, all of the above acts of the subjects are tricks of impersonating the Social Security agency to defraud and appropriate people's property.

The Vietnam Social Security Agency continues to advise people to: Be vigilant, do not provide information and follow the instructions of phone callers claiming to be from the Social Security Agency, requesting to carry out procedures related to social insurance and health insurance.

When people need to adjust personal information, they are requested to directly contact the Social Insurance agency.

Accordingly, people can call Hotline 1900.9068 for support; or do it on: National Public Service Portal; Vietnam Social Security Public Service Portal; VssID Application - Digital Social Insurance.

All transactions and interactions between people and the Social Security agency through the above official channels are currently free of charge.

In addition, people need to regularly update information on social insurance and health insurance policies through official channels of the Social Insurance Agency; warnings from authorities about methods and tricks of fraud on current mass media. Including:
