Warning of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides in the Central and Central Highlands provinces

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on October 16, the provinces and cities of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Gia Lai and Dak Lak will continue to have rain. There is a risk of flash floods and landslides in the above provinces and cities.

Specifically, the common accumulated rainfall in Hue city, Da Nang city and Dak Lak is from 30-70mm, in some places over 100mm; Quang Tri and Gia Lai is from 20-40mm, in some places over 80mm. Warning of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes in many communes and wards: Ta Rut; Dakrong, Khe Sanh, Tan Lap; A Doi, Ai Tu, Cam Lo, Hieu Giang, Huong Phung, Kim Ngan, Lao Bao, Lia, Dong Ha (Quang Tri province); Hung Loc, Loc An, Phong Dien ward, Phu Loc; Binh Dien, Chan May - Lang Co; A Luoi 5, Khe Tre (Hue city); Hai Van; Thu Bon, Tien Phuoc; Ba Na, Dong Duong, Duy Xuyen, Hiep Duc, Hoa Tien, Hoa Vang, Lanh Ngoc, Nong Son, Lien Chieu, Phu Ninh, Phuoc Tra, Que Phuoc, Que Son, Que Son Trung, Son Cam Ha, Tam My, Thang Phu, Thanh Binh, Tra Doc, Tra Lien, Viet An (Da Nang city); An Toan, An Tuong, Binh Hiep, Canh Lien, Canh Vinh, Chu Puh, Dak Song, Hoi Son, Ia Dreh, Ia Hiao, Ia Le, Ia Rbol, Ia Sao, Ia Tul, Kim Son, Phu Thien, Phu Tuc, Sro, Uar, Vinh Quang, Vinh Son, Vinh Thinh (Gia Lai province).

Along with that, communes and wards at risk of flash floods and landslides in Dak Lak province include: Duc Binh, Phu Hoa 1, Tay Son, Van Hoa; Buon Don, Cu Pong, Cu Prao, Cu Pui, Cu Yang, Cuor Dang, Dak Lieng, Dang Kang, Dong Xuan, Dray Bhang, Dur KMăl, Ea Bung, Ea Drang, Ea Drông, Ea H'Leo, Ea Hiao, Ea Kar, Ea Khăl, Ea Kiết, Ea Kly, Ea Knop, Ea Knuec, Ea Ktur, Ea M'Droh, Ea Ning, Ea Nuôl, Ea Ô, Ea Păl, Ea Phe, Ea Rieng, Ea Sup, Ea Trang, Hoa Son, Hoa Thinh, Hoa Xuan, Krong Bong, Krong No, Krong Pac, Lien Son Lak, Buon Ho, Buon Ma Thuot, Cu Bao, Ea Kao, Song Cau, Tan An, Tan Lap, Thanh Nhat, Phu Hoa 2, Phu Mo, Quang Phu, Son Hoa, Son Thanh, Song Hinh, Suoi Trai, Tan Tien, Tuy An Tay, Vu Bon, Xuan Phuoc, Xuan Tho, Yang Mao.

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

The hydrometeorological agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to have prevention and response measures.

From 4am to 10am on October 16, the areas of Quang Tri province, Hue city, Da Nang city, Gia Lai and Dak Lak had moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places such as: La To hydroelectric dam (Quang Tri) 193.4mm, Ba Nang (Quang Tri) 125.8mm; Rao Trang hydroelectric basin (Hue city) 181.2mm; Thach Ban reservoir head (Da Nang city) 128.8mm; Thuan Phong (Gia Lai) 73.6mm; Song Hinh (Dak Lak) 104.5mm;...

Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are close to saturation (over 85%) or have reached saturation.

At sea, the sea area from Gia Lai to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand has scattered showers and thunderstorms.

It is forecasted that on the day and night of October 16, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the Central and Southern East Sea (including Truong Sa special zone) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves over 2m high.

All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

According to the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, affected coastal provinces and cities must closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
