According to the Department of Information Security, online fraud is increasing rapidly with many sophisticated tricks. Fraudsters take advantage of technological developments to create effective fraud systems that are difficult for users to identify.

According to records, on the social network Facebook, many pages and groups have appeared posting articles related to fast passport services, cheap passport services... with the cost of this service much higher than the fee prescribed by the state.

Taking advantage of a segment of people who are not familiar with information technology and do not know how to submit applications online, these subjects create many fanpages and groups for quick passport making on social networks to scam and steal personal information.

Specifically, on Facebook, there are fanpages and groups such as "Fast passport service", "Fast and cheap passport service in Hanoi ", "Fast passport, Vietnam entry and exit visa"... The fees to be paid for these "fast services" are many times higher than the fees prescribed by the State.

Attractive offers such as "no need to go far, no queuing, no waiting, home delivery, fast passport service at low cost"... have attracted the attention of many people.

With this trick, the subject does not use the citizen's phone number to fill in the passport application form but writes their own phone number, or writes the wrong permanent address to declare false information, preventing the Immigration Officer from contacting the citizen when necessary to notify or request additional documents, thereby prolonging the passport issuance time.

Through the phone number, the subjects claiming to be citizens grasp the content of the documents that need to be supplemented. When they do not receive their passports, citizens go to the Immigration Department to ask, only to find out that the documents have not been supplemented for processing.

Some subjects also take advantage of this to steal personal information such as portrait photos, ID cards, phone numbers, emails, permanent addresses, OTPs... for other illegal acts such as registering to open bank accounts, borrowing money online, stealing Facebook accounts, VNeID...

To prevent the above situation, the Information Security Department recommends that people absolutely do not provide personal information to unknown subjects. People should submit their passport applications online on the National Public Service Portal or the Ministry of Public Security's Public Service Portal. If they cannot submit online, they can ask relatives to do it for them or go directly to a state agency for instructions.

In addition, when encountering signs of fraud, people need to contact the police for timely handling.
