According to VOV, on the morning of July 5, the first two quarter-final matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 took place. The first quarter-final match was between Fluminense (Brazil) and Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia).
In the opening minutes, both teams played solidly and looked for mistakes from their opponents. In the 40th minute, Martinelly punished Joao Cancelo's mistake to score the opening goal for Fluminense.
In the second half, the match became more exciting when Al Hilal pushed up their formation to find an equalizer. In the 51st minute, Koulibaly headed the ball right to Leonardo, who after a moment of handling, fired a close-range shot to bring the equalizer for Al Hilal.
Fluminense then had some counter-attacks but goalkeeper Bounou played brilliantly to continuously save the goal. However, Al Hilal's defense once again made a mistake, allowing Hercules to rush into the penalty area and score a cross-angle goal, bringing the final score to 2-1 for Fluminense.
According to Bongdaplus, right after that, it was Chelsea's turn to play against Palmeiras. This was predicted to be a difficult match for the London club. Despite opening the score in the first half, Chelsea conceded a goal in the second half and only won thanks to an own goal by the opponent in the final minutes of the match.
In the end, Chelsea won 2-1 and qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals against Fluminense, also from Brazil. The match between the two clubs will take place on July 9.
The other semi-final will certainly be a clash between Europe's top clubs. Fans will eagerly await the match between PSG/Bayern vs Real Madrid/Dortmund.
