Mr. Chang Mi Tua, Quan Ba commune, Tuyen Quang province is currently working as a worker with a stable income of more than 20 million VND/month at a unit of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group in Quang Ninh. A few years ago, Mr. Tua did not think he would have the life he has today.

“Before 2024, my family was very poor, only relying on corn and cows, and also affected by weather and disease. Since the State supported us to go to vocational school and introduced us to jobs, we have a stable income, have money to build a new house, and have escaped poverty,” Tua confided.

In Quan Ba commune, every year hundreds of workers from poor, near-poor and newly escaped poverty households are supported with career development, vocational training and job referrals to units inside and outside the province. Thanks to that, people have stable jobs and incomes, reducing the poverty rate.

In addition, the old Quan Ba district has opened 33 vocational training classes with 1,150 students participating, focusing on occupations suitable to local needs such as raising and supplying products from buffalo, cows, horses, cooking, eco- tourism and community, and repairing agricultural machinery.

Mr. Do Quang Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quan Ba Commune - said that vocational training and job creation have made an important contribution to poverty reduction and improving the socio-economic life of people, especially ethnic minorities in the area.

“In the coming time, we will continue to focus on vocational training for rural workers, equipping them with knowledge and professional skills. Especially joint ventures and partnerships with units and employers so that workers after vocational training have the opportunity to find suitable jobs,” said Mr. Dung.

Not only vocational training, job fairs organized in remote communes have helped workers from poor and near-poor households have the opportunity to access businesses and vocational training organizations, thereby having jobs and stable income.

According to statistics from the Tuyen Quang Provincial Employment Service Center, on average, each local job fair attracts from 1,000 to 2,000 participants. Through job fairs organized at the grassroots level, many businesses and vocational training facilities have recruited and provided vocational training, connecting jobs for thousands of rural workers.

In 2024 alone, Tuyen Quang province created new jobs for over 56,000 workers. Of which, vocational training was provided for over 23,000 workers from disadvantaged areas, poor households, near-poor households, and households that had just escaped poverty.

Implementing the Sub-project on Developing Vocational Education in Poor and Disadvantaged Areas in the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Tuyen Quang province aims to develop vocational education in both scale and quality of training, and support vocational training for the poor.

At the same time, closely link vocational education with job creation, sustainable livelihoods, increased income and improved quality of life for poor households, near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households and low-income workers.

In the period 2025-2030, Tuyen Quang province aims to reduce the poverty rate by 3-4% each year. In which, career development and job creation with sustainable income are identified as the core of poverty reduction.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tuyen Quang province, the poverty rate of Ha Giang province (before the merger) decreased from 42.85% at the end of 2021 to 25.93% at the end of 2024 (an average decrease of 5.38%/year). The poverty rate of Tuyen Quang province (before the merger) decreased from 23.45% at the end of 2021 to 10.19% at the end of 2024 (an average decrease of 4.42%/year).
