Tuyen Quang is a mountainous province with more than 70% of its terrain being hills and mountains, divided by a system of streams, creeks and steep terrain. For this reason, many residential areas, especially in remote communes, are often isolated during the rainy season, making travel difficult.

This not only endangers people during the rainy season but also affects socio -economic development and poverty reduction in the locality. Based on that reality, in recent years, Tuyen Quang province has increased investment in rural infrastructure.

Since mid-2024, people in Dong Da village, Thuong Nong commune have been able to travel conveniently on a solid concrete bridge over the stream. Dozens of households no longer have to worry about being cut off during the rainy season, and agricultural products can be transported conveniently.

"People are very happy. Since the new bridge was built, they no longer have to worry about floods. Traders come to the village to buy chickens and pigs at high prices. People have also escaped poverty and their lives have improved day by day thanks to convenient travel and trade," said Chau Thi Lien, Dong Da village.

In early 2024, the Nam Lon bridge across the stream in Dong Da village was built, and the villagers were overjoyed. The bridge is made of reinforced concrete, only 16m long and more than 2m wide, but it is the lifelong wish of the people.

In Hung Loi, a province with many difficulties and a high poverty rate in Tuyen Quang, the bridges over streams have helped people travel more conveniently, rural infrastructure has been increasingly renewed, and life has been improved.

Bum Ken Bridge across Pho Day River of Hung Loi Commune was newly built with a length of 72m, a bridge surface of 6.5m wide. This project is not only a bridge, but also a link connecting the lives of more than 800 people of the H'Mong, Dao, and Nung ethnic groups.

Mr. Then Van Phuc - Head of Bum Ken village shared: "Before the bridge was built, it was impossible to travel when it rained. Now, motorbikes and cars can easily cross the bridge, people can also focus on their business, many households have escaped poverty and become rich thanks to the development of farm economy and the convenient circulation of goods."

In the period of 2021 - 2024, the whole Tuyen Quang province has built more than 900km of rural roads and 161 bridges, of which 116 bridges have been completed and put into use, 45 bridges are under construction. In 2025, the province aims to build about 166km more roads and 39 bridges, contributing to the completion of the traffic infrastructure system in rural and mountainous areas.

According to the Department of Construction of Tuyen Quang province, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the construction of about 200 bridges in the area will be completed. By the end of this year, this goal will be completed, helping to complete rural traffic infrastructure, creating conditions for people to develop the economy and sustainably reduce poverty.

Implementing the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Tuyen Quang province has increased investment to support the development of socio-economic infrastructure in poor communes and disadvantaged mountainous areas. In particular, focusing on completing traffic infrastructure, schools, cultural houses, canals, traditional houses, domestic water, and electricity.

Thanks to that, regional connectivity has been increased to serve people's livelihood, production, circulation of goods and services to meet people's needs, creating conditions for people to access basic social services, contributing to improving the quality of life in difficult areas, reducing the poverty rate.

After 5 years of implementing 3 national target programs for the period 2021-2025, Tuyen Quang province has mobilized a total of more than 64,000 billion VND in resources. The National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Tuyen Quang province alone has mobilized more than 1,100 billion VND to support livelihoods and social security. Thanks to that, tens of thousands of poor households have escaped poverty.

In the old Tuyen Quang province, in the period 2021 - 2024, the poverty rate decreased from 23.45% to 10.19%, a decrease of 13.26% compared to the beginning of the period. In the old Ha Giang province, the number of multidimensional poor households at the end of 2024 was 69,740 households (36.35%), a decrease of 11,711 households, equivalent to a decrease of 6.26%.
