Previously, the English striker earned over €85,000 per week at Liverpool. Despite this, Carroll remains content with his current life. In an interview earlier in the season, he shared: "I'm renting a lovely little house, and my salary isn't even enough to cover the rent. But I clearly didn't come to Bordeaux for the money."

Throughout his career, Carroll scored 54 goals in 248 Premier League appearances. Besides Liverpool, he also played for Newcastle United and West Ham United. Before joining Bordeaux, he also played for Reading and West Bromwich Albion, then moved to France to play for Amiens.
