On the afternoon of September 7, storm No. 3 (Yagi storm) officially made landfall in Vietnam and went straight into the border area between Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces. Mong Cai city was recorded as the locality least affected by the storm in the entire Quang Ninh province.

According to Dan Tri reporters, since this morning, heavy rain and strong winds have caused many trees, billboards, corrugated iron sheets, etc. to fall onto the roadway on many streets of Mong Cai City.

On Ly Tu Trong Street (Hoa Lac Ward, Mong Cai City), heavy rain and strong winds for a long time caused a tree to be uprooted and an electric pole to fall onto the road. Fortunately, it did not cause damage to surrounding houses.

A resident in the area, after witnessing the scene, was shocked and shared: "I accidentally went out the door and saw the tree leaning and falling, just 5 minutes later both the tree and the electric pole were lying on the road. This is the biggest storm I have ever seen in many years of living in this city."

The rolling door at a business on Hoa Binh Avenue was blown open by the wind, causing damage even though it was closed.

Shops in front of Hoa Binh Square were heavily affected when a series of signs and public works were damaged.

The nameplate at Mong Cai International Border Gate is no longer in its original state after the storm passed.

Motorbikes and billboards fell down because they could not withstand the strong winds of Typhoon Yagi when it made landfall.

Garbage is everywhere on the streets, especially in the city markets.

Holding her breath as she carries Typhoon Yagi through Mong Cai City, Ms. Hoang Thi Hue continues her daily work with her garbage truck traveling through the streets. Today is another very hard day for Ms. Hue as the amount of garbage has increased dramatically.
“There were so many fallen trees that every time I walked a certain distance, the garbage truck would fill up with fallen branches. It was raining so the fallen leaves stuck to the road and were very difficult to clean up. While walking, I was afraid that the metal roof or tree branches would fall on my head,” Ms. Hue shared.
