The story of Li Sangye (37 years old) - a Chinese man with cerebral palsy - is inspiring people in the country of a billion people. Sangye was determined to pursue his education despite a late start. He started primary school at 16 and entered medical school at 25.

Sang Nghiep was born in Henan Province, China. He has now opened a small clinic in Yunnan Province, realizing his dream of becoming a doctor.

Childhood illness and years of exploitation

Sang Nghiep suffered from cerebral palsy at the age of one due to lack of timely and proper treatment. The disease severely affected his legs and mobility, and Sang Nghiep was permanently unable to walk normally after the illness.

Although his parents spent all their savings on his treatment, the results were very limited. When he was only 9 years old, Sang Nghiep made the decision to stop his family from spending more money on him. He stopped all treatment activities and looked for a job to help his family ease their financial difficulties.

It was at this time that he fell into the hands of a man who specialized in exploiting disabled children, and was forced to beg on the streets. For 7 years, from the age of 9 to 16, Sang Nghiep fell into a life of wandering, begging on the streets for money. Every day, he was paid 100 yuan (360,000 VND). By the age of 16, he was "discarded" because he was too old and could no longer "practice" effectively.

At this time, Sang Nghiep saw clearly the reality of his life, he was completely illiterate. At the age of 16, he decided to start a new life by going to primary school.

Surprisingly, Sang Nghiep learned very quickly and was considered intelligent by his teachers. The more he studied, the more passionate he became about learning. He tried his best to overcome all obstacles and completed his high school program in 9 years. In 2013, he passed the medical school entrance exam at the age of 25.

At medical school, Sang Nghiep did not hesitate to cooperate with teachers and classmates to use him as a subject for research on cerebral palsy. In 2014, he pledged to donate his body to scientific research after his death.

After graduating from medical school at the age of 31, Ly Sang Nghiep initially worked at a pharmaceutical company thanks to the introduction of his university teachers. But after only a few months of working, he quit because he realized that his true passion was to be a doctor, to treat patients.

Despite facing many obstacles in work and life due to his physical disability, Sang Nghiep eventually applied for an internship at a small clinic in Ha Nam province. During his work, he continued to study and take exams to obtain professional certificates.

He then moved to Yunnan Province, where the climate is relatively mild, to open a small clinic to serve the community living around the clinic. Sharing about his current job, Sang Nghiep said he feels satisfied: "I don't expect to work in a big hospital. I feel happy when I can take care of the health of my close neighbors."

Live inspiringly and be actively conquered by your girlfriend

Despite the difficulties he faces when traveling, Li Sangye has a special passion for mountain climbing. He has conquered many famous mountains in China. Explaining his challenging hobby, Sangye said: "I want to see life from a different level."

Currently, he continues to pursue his passion for mountain climbing and often "livestreams" his journey to conquer mountain peaks through social networking platforms, to send positive messages to the disabled community.

Sang Nghiep met his girlfriend online. Touched by his life story and will to live, his girlfriend took the initiative to get to know him online. After the two met, she decided to pursue him, conquer him and build a romantic relationship.

Last October, his girlfriend conquered Mount Tai with him, carrying him to the top. For the two of them, this was an act of sincere, unconditional commitment.

Looking back on his entire life story, Sang Nghiep said: "A person's greatest enemy is themselves. A person's best friend is also themselves. Failure or difficult challenges can be steps leading to a better future. The important thing is to keep going, don't give up."
