PSSI confirms friendly match with Argentina
Before that, the Indonesian team will face the Palestinian team on June 14.
Sharing at a press conference on the afternoon of May 24, PSSI President Erick Thohir revealed the reason why Indonesia was late in announcing the friendly match schedule.
“We can only confirm the organization of the match when we receive the consent letter from the World Football Federation and Asia,” said the PSSI president.
Meanwhile, Indonesian press predicts that another reason for this is that Indonesia must ensure security.
Because the appearance of the reigning 2022 World Cup champion will certainly attract a large audience to the stadium to watch.
However, Indonesia is still uncertain which squad Argentina will bring to Jakarta.
In particular, star Lionel Messi is also uncertain to be in the starting lineup.
Talking about this, Bola Time wrote: "It is expected that next week the Argentina team will announce the squad for the Asian tour.
Hopefully superstar Messi will be present and play at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in the match against the Indonesian team.
This is also a useful match to help coach Shin Tae-yong and his team prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup finals."
Previously, a PSSI official said that it had to spend up to 5 million euros (about 117 billion VND) to invite the 2022 World Cup champion to play a friendly match.
However, this official said that this is a completely reasonable amount of money and PSSI is also able to pay.
