Provincial Forest Protection Department propagates forest protection and development

On the morning of November 25, in Meo Vac commune, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Forest Protection Department organized a conference to propagate and mobilize ethnic minorities to implement the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030. Attending the conference were leaders and experts of the Provincial Forest Protection Department, Forest Protection Department of Region XVI, along with village heads and heads of mass forest protection groups in villages and hamlets.

Tuyen Quang currently manages more than 852,789 hectares of forest, of which 620,891 hectares are natural forests, the rest are planted production forests, with a coverage rate of over 62%. As one of the localities with large forest areas in the Northeast region, the province has effectively implemented the policy of payment for forest environmental services. This is considered an important driving force in protecting upstream forests, especially protective forests associated with the Tuyen Quang, Chiem Hoa, Na Hang, Song Nho Que, Bac Me hydroelectric reservoirs and small hydroelectric plants in the area.

Delegates attended the conference to propagate and mobilize ethnic minorities to participate in forest protection and development in Meo Vac commune.

At the conference, reporters from the Provincial Forest Protection Department and the Forest Protection Department of Region XVI introduced component projects of the National Target Program; disseminated mechanisms and policies on forest protection and development that are being implemented; provided guidance on forest management and protection skills, forest fire prevention and fighting; and disseminated legal regulations on wildlife protection and common violations.

Delegates spent time exchanging and discussing difficulties and obstacles in forest protection and development, and shared practical experiences in implementing tasks at the grassroots level.

According to the plan, Tuyen Quang Forest Protection Department will organize 8 propaganda conferences in the communes of Meo Vac, Bac Me, Vi Xuyen, Bac Quang, Hoang Su Phi, Yen Hoa, Na Hang and Lam Binh, to strengthen people's awareness and responsibility in forest protection and development, contributing to effectively implementing the socio -economic development goals of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
