The historic flood in July 2025 occurred over a large area in the western communes of Nghe An province, causing great damage to houses, property, and roads. Of which, 6 bridges were swept away by the flood. Specifically, in Tuong Duong commune, there were 3 suspension bridges submerged in the river in just one night: Cua Rao bridge (old Xa Luong commune), Ban Chan suspension bridge and Ban Lau suspension bridge (both in the old Thach Giam town).
