According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Huy Ngo passed away at 3:56 a.m. on September 16, 2025 (July 25, At Ty year), at his home, at the age of 88.

Mr. Le Huy Ngo was born on August 13, 1938, in Tinh Hai commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province, now Hai Binh ward, Thanh Hoa province.

The late minister was a member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vinh Phu Provincial People's Committee, then Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vinh Phu Provincial People's Committee.

After that, Mr. Le Huy Ngo became Secretary of Vinh Phu Provincial Party Committee, alternate member of the 6th Party Central Committee.

During the period from June 1988 to July 1991, the Politburo transferred him to work as Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and as a member of the 6th Party Central Committee.

After that, Mr. Le Huy Ngo held the position of Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Party Organization Committee.

During the period from October 1997 to June 2004, Mr. Le Huy Ngo was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, head of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention.

He continued to be elected as a member of the Party Central Committee for the 8th and 9th terms and a delegate to the 9th and 10th National Assembly.

From October 1997 to June 2008, he was the head of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Dr. To Van Truong, former Director of the Southern Institute of Water Resources Planning, said that people still call Mr. Le Huy Ngo "Minister of Floods and Storms".

The reason is not only because of the times he rolled around in the rain and floods, directly directing the rescue of people, rice, and villages, but also because his whole life was like a journey through storms, keeping his heart for farmers, the countryside, and the Fatherland.

Dr. Truong expressed that looking back on Mr. Le Huy Ngo's working journey, from Vinh Phu with the first steps in "household contracting" and "forest contracting", to Thanh Hoa when facing famine and internal turmoil, then the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with many hardships and floods, everywhere one can see the mark of a leader who dares to think, dares to do, and is devoted to the people.

He was one of the pioneers who laid the foundation for the New Rural Program later on, with the aspiration to change the face of Vietnamese villages.

"Former Minister Le Huy Ngo has passed away, but he left behind a precious legacy: the example of a man who rose from hardship, lived honestly, worked devotedly, and kept justice and honor.

People call him "Minister of Farmers" - a title that does not need to be conferred but is forged from sweat, tears, and the trust of the people," Dr. Truong added.

The funeral of former Minister Le Huy Ngo will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 on September 18, 2025. The memorial service will take place from 11:00 to 11:30 on the same day at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong - Hanoi.
