Ho Chi Minh City launches 60-day 'sprint' to start construction of metro line 2

From now until the end of December 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) launched a 60-day and night emulation movement to focus on completing key tasks for the goal of starting construction of metro line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong).

On November 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) issued a plan to launch a 60-day and night peak emulation movement to strive to complete key tasks of the metro line 2 construction project in 2025, to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party.

According to the MAUR Board, the peak emulation goal aims to promote the proactive and creative spirit of all cadres, civil servants and workers in the unit.

The entire committee overcame all difficulties to ensure the completion of key tasks on schedule to start construction of metro line 2 in 2025. The competition will be held from now until December 31.

The emulation process is deployed widely, synchronously and consistently to all departments and affiliated units as the core task and political responsibility of each collective and individual.

Recently, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting on the socio- economic situation in October, the first 10 months of the year and key tasks and solutions for November 2025. Ho Chi Minh City assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and advise on completing procedures to start construction of urban railway line No. 2 (metro No. 2 Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) in 2025.

The project is 11.6km long, including 11 stations connecting the central area to the Northwest gateway. Site clearance and technical infrastructure relocation are being accelerated to prepare for construction.

Previously, the project was approved to switch from ODA capital to public investment capital, and was piloted to apply a special mechanism according to Resolution 188 of the National Assembly , allowing to shorten approval procedures.
