Speed ​​up construction of new Xuong Giang bridge unit

BAC NINH - The project to build a new section of the Xuong Giang bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge across the Thuong River on the Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway (abbreviated as the new section of the Xuong Giang bridge) is a key traffic project. With the determination to open the bridge in December, these days, the investor and contractors are focusing on construction, including holidays and nights.

The project started construction in February 2025 in Bac Giang ward. Currently, there are more than 150 workers and engineers working on the construction site to complete the main items such as: Bridge girder burning, dike girder scaffolding system, formwork installation... The total investment cost of the project is more than 170 billion VND from the state budget. The project is part of the project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1, including: Xuong Giang Bridge, Bac Ninh Province; Gianh Bridge, Quan Hau, Quang Tri Province and Deo Ngang Tunnel, Ha Tinh Province. According to the design, the project has a starting point of about Km117+440, an ending point of about Km118+400 in Bac Giang ward with a total length of about 0.96 km, of which the bridge is longer than 0.301 km, the rest is the approach road. Photo: Drilling holes to connect steel beams.

The bridge is a new single-unit bridge suitable for the scale of the route, 16.5 m wide; designed with reinforced concrete, prestressed reinforced concrete; the road surface includes 3 lanes for motor vehicles. The new Xuong Giang bridge construction project is expected to be completed in mid-November this year and technically open to traffic on December 19, ahead of schedule. The completion of the project will contribute to reducing traffic congestion on Xuong Giang bridge, promoting trade, connectivity, and promoting socio-economic development in Bac Ninh province.
