According to the Kremlin's announcement, the Russian government agreed to drop the criminal investigation against the head of the Wagner group and he will be allowed to leave Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also confirmed that Wagner fighters involved in the rebellion would not be pursued due to their contributions to the frontline in the Ukraine conflict.
Meanwhile, those who refused to join the mutiny and other units also belonging to Wagner will continue to be allowed to sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense .
On the same day, Wagner chief Prigozhin confirmed that the force would leave Rostov-on-Don and return to its base.
According to the Belarusian press agency, President Alexander Lukashenko was the one who negotiated with the leader of the Wagner force, and the discussions were coordinated by Russian President Putin, before reaching a consensus.
The Kremlin spokesman also denied that the incident would affect the special military operation in Ukraine. Mr. Peskov also thanked President Lukashenko for his role as an intermediary in helping to handle the rebellion.
On the same day, TASS news agency reported that all previous restrictions imposed on highways in Russia have been lifted.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry accused Mr Prigozhin of spreading false information through a video posted on social media, claiming that the Russian military had attacked a base of Wagner militants. He then vowed to march on Moscow and demand that those responsible be held accountable. Russian President Vladimir Putin later made a televised speech, warning that betrayal would not go unpunished and calling for national unity.
