Talented but unlucky
Tuan Anh is in the group of most talented players in the first class of HAGL JMG football academy, the same generation as Cong Phuong, Van Toan, Xuan Truong, Van Thanh...
While the players of the same age as Tuan Anh mentioned above have had many glories in their football careers, most notably the 2018 AFF Cup championship, reaching the final of the 2028 U.23 Asian Cup, reaching the semi-finals of the 2019 ASIAD men's football event..., Tuan Anh has nothing.
Tuan Anh is not lucky in HAGL shirt
Regarding all those achievements of Vietnamese football, Tuan Anh had to stay home as a spectator, due to injury. Injury is also the most haunting thing in Tuan Anh's career, making this player unlucky with big tournaments, unlucky with big titles.
Following Tuan Anh from when he was a young player until he became an adult, former VFF Vice President Duong Vu Lam had to exclaim: "He is one of the most talented midfielders in Vietnamese football. If we now highly appreciate the modern and technical playing style of Japanese football, then Tuan Anh is the Vietnamese player whose playing style is most similar to Japanese players.
He is technical but does not overuse his technique, he is talented but not lazy, willing to play defensively, quietly retreating to make room for his teammates around him to rush forward to score. He knows how to turn the most complicated things into the simplest things on the pitch. Tuan Anh's career would have been very different, he would have gone very far if it weren't for the persistent injuries that haunted him."
Tuan Anh's "crystal legs" have been mentioned a lot by the domestic media throughout the career of this player born in 1995. A knee injury at a young age a few years ago, combined with the frequent recurrence of this injury, caused Tuan Anh to lose the opportunity to win a title at the national team level.
Late title
At the club level, the period when Tuan Anh became famous coincided with the period when HAGL declined compared to their golden age, so during the years Tuan Anh played for the mountain town team, this player mainly worried about relegation with Mr. Duc's team, rather than competing for achievements.
There was a time when Tuan Anh and his peers at HAGL were close to winning the 2021 V-League championship. But unfortunately, that year the V-League was canceled midway through the Covid-19 pandemic, so Tuan Anh lost the national championship title.
It seemed like the door to titles had closed forever for Tuan Anh. While most of his teammates had left HAGL to find more attractive destinations, this midfielder quietly stayed, dedicating himself to Mr. Duc's team. Until one day, Nam Dinh Club made an offer and Mr. Duc himself agreed to allow Tuan Anh to leave HAGL, he came to the team in the South in the middle of the 2023-2024 V-League season.
Tuan Anh has a great chance to win the championship with Nam Dinh Club
Thanks to this transfer, Tuan Anh has the opportunity to win an important title for the first time in his talented but unlucky career. If Nam Dinh defeats the relegated Khanh Hoa in the match of round 25 of the V-League tomorrow afternoon (June 25), Tuan Anh will officially have his first title in his career.
It is also true that God has eyes, God does not fail talented people. Hopefully, the upcoming title in V-League will be a catalyst to help Tuan Anh have more motivation in the Vietnam team, more motivation for him to help coach Kim Sang-sik's team aim for the top at AFF Cup 2024 at the end of this year.
A midfielder who has always been highly appreciated by all coaches, domestic and foreign, from Toshiya Miura (Japanese), Nguyen Huu Thang, Park Hang-seo (Korean), Philippe Troussier (France) to Kim Sang-sik over the past ten years, that midfielder is certainly not ordinary!
