According to the People's Committee of Bac Giang province, the whole province currently has 29,700 hectares of lychee; of which early lychee is 8,000 hectares, accounting for 27% of the area, main crop lychee is 21,700 hectares. The area of lychee produced according to VietGAP standards is 16,000 hectares, GlobalGAP is 204 hectares, organic is 10 hectares with an expected output of more than 165,000 tons; early lychee is expected to start harvesting from May 20 to June 15, main crop lychee is expected to start harvesting from June 10 to July 20.

The province has 240 lychee growing area codes with an area of 17,421 hectares serving exports to China, the US, Australia, Thailand, and Japan. In 2025, 3 new lychee growing area codes will be added for early export to the US market, with an area of 30 hectares, with an estimated output of about 250 tons. Maintain 40 packaging facilities that have been granted codes to ensure they meet the conditions for export; of which 37 facilities serve the Chinese market, 1 facility serves the Thai market, 1 facility serves the Japanese market, and 1 packaging facility serves the US market.

The province has worked with corporations, businesses, and supermarket systems to bring lychees into the distribution system and export them to international markets. At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade has been directed to coordinate with Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad, Vietnamese consumers, and Vietnamese businesses and organizations abroad to connect and consume Bac Giang lychees on e-commerce platforms; work with experienced and reputable units to unify packaging specifications, packaging forms, and professional, fast, and effective goods collection points to ensure the best quality reaches domestic and foreign consumers.

Through a survey of the lychee growing area in Phuc Hoa commune, Tan Yen district, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy said that it is necessary to further promote close linkages along the value chain from production to harvesting, preservation, processing, consumption, and export of lychees to reduce costs, improve quality and competitiveness of products.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Do Duc Duy emphasized that in order to avoid pressure when lychee enters the main season, the Ministry and localities must prepare infrastructure conditions for harvesting, transporting, processing and preserving; and arrange human resources for plant quarantine and food safety inspection of fresh lychee for export.

In addition, coordinate with experts from importing countries and customs agencies at border gates to carry out activities such as opening green channels for fresh lychee exports.

Because lychee harvest is highly seasonal and has a very short duration, and the main consumed product is fresh lychee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has been very proactive in working with localities to develop a master plan early on to promote effective consumption.
