On the afternoon of June 26,President To Lam received Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya.

The President sent his congratulations to the leaders and people of India on the successful organization of the 18th Lower House election and asked the Ambassador to convey his regards to Indian President Droupadi Murmu.

The President believes that under the leadership of the new Government , India will continue to develop more strongly, with an increasingly high role and position in the region and internationally.

Vietnam and India have a strong traditional friendship that has been nurtured by the leaders and people of the two countries over many decades. The two countries have now become Comprehensive Strategic Partners, playing an important role and position in each other's foreign policies.

President To Lam welcomed the Ambassador's positive contributions since taking office in Vietnam and asked the Ambassador to continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ministries, sectors and localities to further strengthen bilateral relations, bring cooperation into depth, substance and effectiveness, and promote the potential and strengths of each country.

The President was pleased to witness the remarkable progress in bilateral relations with many impressive indicators, including defense and security cooperation reaching strategic depth, two-way trade reaching nearly 15 billion USD in 2023, and he fully believes that the two countries can soon reach a turnover of 20 billion USD.

The President welcomed large Indian corporations to invest in Vietnam in strategic sectors such as oil and gas, infrastructure, seaports and emerging sectors such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, clean energy and energy transition.

The Vietnamese State leaders encouraged the two countries to promote their traditional cultural, religious and historical ties to enhance tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchange. The President asked the Ambassador to continue to promote support for Vietnam through scholarship programs, preferential credit packages and non-refundable aid.

Ambassador Sandeep Arya sincerely thanked the President for his valuable support and good sentiments for the Vietnam - India relationship.

The Ambassador emphasized that the Vietnam-India relationship is a sustainable relationship, tested by time; despite the fluctuations of the regional and international situation, the two countries have always maintained warm feelings, trust and mutual support.

The Ambassador affirmed that he will continue to make efforts to promote bilateral relations, first of all arranging for high-level visits and contacts in the coming time, further deepening cooperation in defense, economy - trade, science - technology, culture - tourism and expanding into new fields.

The Ambassador expressed his delight that India is cooperating effectively with Vietnamese agencies and localities through quick impact projects (QIPs), the project to restore and renovate Cham towers in My Son, as well as organizing the International Yoga Day (June 21) in many provinces and cities.

Discussing regional and international issues, the President suggested that the two countries continue to coordinate closely at multilateral forums.

The President appreciated India's strong implementation of the "Act East" policy through practical and specific cooperation activities with ASEAN countries, including Vietnam.

The Indian Ambassador expressed his agreement and affirmed his desire to further strengthen cooperation and mutual support between the two countries in the context of the current complicated changes in the world situation.
