During his lifetime, Uncle Ho always had special affection and love for the people and soldiers of the South - those who "went first and came last" were always steadfast and indomitable, worthy of the title "The Fatherland's citadel". Before passing away, in his Will, Uncle Ho devoted his strong affection and faith to the people of the South, and to the cause of liberating the Fatherland .

Visiting the relic site, President Luong Cuong recalled Uncle Ho's burning wish in his will before he passed away that "Our Fatherland will definitely be unified. The people of the North and South will definitely be reunited under one roof" and Uncle Ho's last wish was "Our entire Party and people unite to strive to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, and make a worthy contribution to the world revolutionary cause".

The President affirmed that in response to Uncle Ho's sentiments, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the people of the South, together with the army and people of the whole country, fought bravely and steadfastly, achieving the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country.

At the historic moment of 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the revolutionary flag fluttered on the roof of the Independence Palace, the historic campaign named after beloved Uncle Ho was completely victorious, the cause of liberating the South ended in victory. The aspiration of President Ho Chi Minh, the will and determination of the entire Party and the entire Vietnamese people for a peaceful, independent, unified and territorially intact Vietnam after long years of resistance war became a reality.

The war has been over for 50 years, the country is on the path of development towards a new era of building our country "more dignified, more beautiful", affirming Vietnam's position in the international arena "standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers" as Uncle Ho always wished.
