Sunny Nguyen, a 13-year-old boy from San Jose, California, has long been passionate about technology. He taught himself how to create websites and researched fields like software engineering and artificial intelligence (AI) at home.
It is worth mentioning that when the public school curriculum and homeschooling were no longer suitable, the child's father, Tommy Nguyen, began applying to universities on his behalf.
"We were really surprised when Sunny received a warm welcome. Letters of acceptance, admission and scholarships were continuously sent to the house," Mr. Tommy recounted. According to Fox KTVU (USA), there are more than 100 universities offering admission to Sunny.
Among them are prestigious schools such as: University of California Berkeley, University of California San Diego (according to US News rankings, both schools are in the top 30 best schools in the US) and many other public universities in the state of California.
Mr. Tommy Nguyen said that universities have committed to award scholarships worth a total of more than 3 million USD to his son.
