Ho Chi Minh City organizes many activities to celebrate International Museum Day

NDO - On May 8, according to the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, to celebrate International Museum Day (May 18), the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), many exhibition activities will take place at museums in the city.

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Ho Chi Minh City branch will display the theme "The South forever remembers the gratitude to Him" ​​at the museum and in Nghe An; and a mobile exhibition "Proud of the city named after Him - Ho Chi Minh" at the University of Foreign Languages ​​and Information Technology.

Ton Duc Thang Museum will exhibit the theme "Ba Son - The Stream of Time"; coordinate with An Giang Provincial Museum to organize the thematic exhibition "Uncle Ton - Journey from 1945 to 1975" at An Giang Provincial Museum.

The unit also coordinated with Ton Duc Thang University, Cao Thang Technical College, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture to organize a short film contest to share interesting stories about Uncle Ton or experience a tour at the museum with the theme "Ton Duc Thang Museum - New look".

In addition, Ton Duc Thang Museum also organizes the activity "Check-in Museum - Lots of great gifts" and the interactive activity "Come to the museum - Lots of interesting things".

To celebrate International Museum Day, the City History Museum in collaboration with the City Museum, the City Fine Arts Museum and private collections organized a special exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City"; organized a special photo exhibition "President Ho Chi Minh - life and revolutionary career" at the museum.

Ho Chi Minh City Museum also held a thematic exhibition: "Journey following Uncle Ho's footsteps through stamp and postcard collections"; continued to open the exhibition "Huynh Phuong Dong's Journey" and the exhibition "Letters from the resistance war" to serve visitors; mobile exhibition, theme: "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa - Vietnam's sea and islands"; "National architectural and artistic relics in Ho Chi Minh City" at schools in districts and towns in the city.

On this occasion, the War Remnants Museum will organize a seminar on the topic "Synthesizing some standards in museum display"; coordinate with the Southern Youth Veterans Liaison Committee to recreate the Secret Bunker: The 3-compartment secret bunker - the meeting place of the Executive Committee of Region I (Go Vap District Party Committee) and the 67B Special Forces Team, the place where the Secretary lived and printed and hid weapons documents during the period 1965 - 1968.

Meanwhile, the Southern Women's Museum continues to organize the thematic exhibition "40-year journey - Stories from artifacts"; coordinate with the Faculty of Multimedia Communications, FPT University to build a Social Media Communication project to enhance the image of the Southern Women's Museum on the museum's existing communication channels.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts will coordinate with the City History Museum to organize a thematic exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City" at the City History Museum; organize a thematic exhibition and discussion "Telling stories after reunification" with the participation of the Liberation Painting Room; test virtual reality (VR) technology and AI animation in two galleries of National Treasures "Central-Southern Spring Garden" and "Thanh nien thanh dong".

According to the city's Department of Culture and Sports, to celebrate International Museum Day, Ho Chi Minh City will carry out communication at museums by hanging banners and on digital platforms: Fanpage, museum website, Led screen... Museums focus on promoting professional work, modern museum exhibition content (applying digital technology in museum activities to attract visitors to visit and experience...).

In particular, to attract visitors to the museum, on May 18, Ho Chi Minh City Museum and the City Fine Arts Museum will offer free admission to visitors. In addition, the museums will also offer free tickets to visitors who are city residents on May 19.
