According to the organizing committee of the 2025 Vesak Festival , at noon on May 6, after the opening ceremony of the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival , President Luong Cuong and domestic and international delegates went to Thanh Tam Pagoda (Lonely Buddha) to pay homage to the Buddha's relics.

The Buddha's relics were brought to Tan Son Nhat International Airport by military aircraft on the morning of May 2. They were then enshrined at Thanh Tam Pagoda from May 2 to 7. This is the first time the Buddha's relics have been brought to Vietnam.

Every day, tens of thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people come to worship from 6am to 10pm. The time when people gather most is from early morning to afternoon.

Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien - Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Vice President, General Secretary of the National Organizing Committee of the United Nations Vesak 2025 - said that after being enshrined at Thanh Tam Pagoda, the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni will be enshrined at Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh Province) from May 8 to 13; at Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi) from May 13 to 16; at Tam Chuc Pagoda ( Ha Nam ) from May 17 to 21.

The relics of Buddha Shakyamuni were then brought back to India.
