On the afternoon of December 18, at the Presidential Palace, President Tran Dai Quang received Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco Habib El Malki, who is visiting Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

At the meeting, President Tran Dai Quang welcomed the results of the talks between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries' parliaments. The President emphasized that the delegation's visit is an important milestone in opening up new cooperation between the two countries' parliaments and strengthening the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Morocco.
The President was pleased to note that the cooperation between the two countries has recently developed positively in many fields but is not commensurate with its potential.
The President said that to further strengthen bilateral relations, the two countries need to increase delegation exchanges at all levels, continue to coordinate more closely at international and regional forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations, the Francophone Community, the Non-Aligned Movement, etc. At the same time, the two sides need to promote connections between the business communities of the two countries, especially in potential areas such as trade, tourism, finance, renewable energy, etc.
The President affirmed that Vietnam is always open, creating favorable conditions and a safe environment for foreign investors and enterprises to do business stably in Vietnam, including enterprises from Morocco.
The President thanked the State and people of Morocco for supporting Vietnam at international organizations and for soon backing Vietnam's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term; and hoped that the two sides would continue to support each other at international forums, especially at the United Nations.
Mr. Habib El Malki believes that this visit of the delegation will open a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
On this occasion, through the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President conveyed his regards and best wishes to the King of Morocco and respectfully invited the King to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
For his part, Mr. Habib El Malki conveyed the greetings and best wishes of King Mohamed VI to the President.
Mr. Habib El Malki said that the King of Morocco attaches great importance to developing cooperative relations between Morocco and Vietnam. Mr. Habib El Malki congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing APEC Year 2017 and said that this was his first visit to Asia as President of the Moroccan House of Representatives. This affirmed the importance of cooperative relations between the two countries.
Mr. Habib El Malki said that the current trade turnover between the two countries is not commensurate with the potential of each country; he hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to promote investment cooperation activities in areas where Morocco has strengths such as: information technology, agricultural processing and renewable energy... At the same time, the two sides will continue to seek measures to promote bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Habib El Malki believes that this visit of the delegation will open a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between the two countries./.
