After 5 years of implementation, the two national target programs: New rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction for the 2021 - 2025 period have achieved many positive results. By the end of May 2025, the total resources mobilized to implement new rural construction nationwide for the 2021 - 2025 period reached about 3.7 million billion VND. To date, the whole country has 6,084/7,669 communes meeting new rural standards. 329/646 district-level units have been recognized by the Prime Minister as having completed their tasks/met new rural standards; 12 provinces have been recognized by the Prime Minister as having completed their tasks of new rural construction. The whole country has 16,543 OCOP products with 3 stars or higher.

In the 2021 - 2025 period, the total central budget allocated to the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction is VND 44,607.6 billion and the local budget is nearly VND 2,883 billion. After nearly 5 years of implementation, the poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard will decrease to 1.93% by the end of 2024. More than 10,000 poverty reduction models and projects have been implemented, attracting the participation of over 200,000 households.

In An Giang, up to now, the province has 3 units recognized as meeting the standards of new rural districts/completing the task of building new rural areas; 1 advanced new rural district, 82/110 communes meeting the standards of new rural communes, 39 communes recognized as meeting the standards of advanced new rural areas, 8 communes meeting the standards of model new rural areas. The province has effectively implemented 7 projects and 13 sub-projects under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction with a total implementation capital of nearly 1,014 billion VND to develop infrastructure, livelihoods, and social security for people in poor areas. Thereby, contributing to reducing the poverty rate in the period of 2021 - 2025 by an average of 0.77%/year; the poverty rate of ethnic minority households in the period of 2021 - 2025 by an average of 3.05%/year.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that there are still many areas with a poverty rate of over 50%. Besides the positivity of emulation movements, emulation and reward work still has shortcomings. Thereby, the Prime Minister suggested that many solutions are needed to organize implementation in the new context and requirements; integrate programs; effectively implement OCOP programs... to ensure the rural environment, associated with eliminating backward customs; need to closely connect, towards modern rural development, flexibly adapt to the industrialization, urbanization process and transform the growth model towards green and circular. At the same time, develop science - technology , innovation and digital transformation. Building new rural areas towards comprehensive, sustainable development and adaptation to climate challenges. Rural space needs to become a livable place, green - clean - beautiful, forming a civilized, humane, cohesive and happy rural community; implementing multidimensional poverty reduction, developing sustainable livelihoods...
