Can Tho has a rich tourism ecosystem: river tourism, garden tourism, floating markets, MICE (tourism combined with conferences, seminars, events), cuisine , historical culture, eco-tourism, community tourism... In the first 6 months of 2025, the city's tourism welcomed more than 6.3 million visitors, staying guests, reaching over 2.7 million, revenue reaching nearly 5,450 billion VND. This result is the process of promoting and building many products, a series of events to attract tourists, tourism stimulus programs with more than 150 product packages, services, stimulus tours...
At the conference, delegates made many recommendations to promote local tourism development in the context of Can Tho City's merger. Accordingly, the recommendations focused on the following contents: product development, product linkage; infrastructure for tourism development, especially Can Tho International Airport, Tran De Seaport; construction of large entertainment areas, attractive night-time products, contributing to increasing costs and extending length of stay.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, acknowledged the positive contributions of the tourism industry in recent times, and also acknowledged the contributions and proposals of businesses.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep said that Can Tho International Airport, night-time economy associated with tourism is still limited, river tourism products, product linkages have not yet promoted their potential. Thereby, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee directed: the city's tourism industry continues to focus on reviewing, surveying and building typical tourism products: eco-tourism, river tourism, MICE, health tourism, festival tourism; the tourism industry coordinates with the industry and trade sector, the agriculture sector to promote the value of agricultural tourism.
On this occasion, the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to 17 tourism businesses that have made positive contributions to tourism development in recent times.
