At around 10am on November 6, local residents provided information and images of a crocodile about 1.5m long and weighing about 30-40kg floating on the water surface in the canal leading to the garden ditch in Phung Tuong 2 hamlet, Nhon My commune. When it discovered people, the crocodile dived away.
Mr. Nguyen Van Diep, Vice Chairman of Nhon My Commune People's Committee, said that immediately after receiving a report from the Commune Police about the discovery of a crocodile floating on the surface of a canal leading water into a household's garden ditch, along with a photo of the crocodile taken by the resident, the Commune People's Committee directed relevant units to search for the crocodile, and at the same time issued a notice to all local residents to be informed and vigilant. Up to now, the aforementioned crocodile has not been found.
Currently, high tides are causing flooding in some areas in the commune. To ensure safety, the People's Committee continues to advise people not to let children swim in flooded areas, on rivers and canals; do not go near rivers and canals or approach areas where crocodiles appear. If people discover crocodiles, immediately notify the People's Committee of Nhon My commune or Nhon My commune police via phone number 0766.946113 for measures to capture them.
