According to the British Council, the registration period will last until October 16. The UK Alumni Awards have four categories, including science and sustainability; culture, creativity and sport; social impact; business and innovation. For each category, the organizing committee will select the corresponding champions and runners-up. In addition, the Vietnamese champions will receive a grant of up to VND30 million for professional development.
The finalists and winners of the award in Vietnam will also have their images and personal stories promoted during a month of media coverage, providing opportunities to connect, work and do business with partners, along with many other benefits.
To be eligible, applicants must have studied at a UK university for at least one semester or one module, or received a bachelor’s degree or higher through a UK distance learning programme or a joint training programme between a Vietnamese and a UK university. However, the prize is only open to those who are living outside the UK and have received a UK education in the past 15 years (from 2010 to 2025).
The list of national winners will be announced between the end of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. In addition to the national awards, the British Council will also award global awards. Finalists and winners from countries including Vietnam will be nominated for the global award. The list of global winners will be announced in August 2026 with many additional benefits.
To win the award, the British Council said candidates must be leaders in their field, using the knowledge and experience gained while studying in the UK to make positive contributions to their profession, community and country.
2026 is the 12th year that the British Council has organized the UK Alumni Awards globally and the 5th year that the British Council has organized the national awards in Vietnam. In 2024, the British Council honored 12 people divided equally into 4 categories, including 4 champions, out of a total of more than 100 nominations. This is an annual award, the English name is Study UK Alumni Awards.
The British Council is the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, operating in more than 200 countries and territories and present in more than 100 countries, including Vietnam. Vietnam is also one of 18 countries that organize the UK Alumni Awards on a national scale, while the remaining countries can only participate in the global award.
