The groundbreaking ceremony of Son Kim 1 Primary-Middle School was held simultaneously with 14 connecting locations across the country. At the same time, Ha Tinh province also held the groundbreaking ceremony of Huong Khe Primary-Middle School. These are the first two border boarding schools selected by Ha Tinh province to implement the policy of building schools for border communes according to the conclusion of the Politburo in Notice No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of inter-level boarding schools in the border communes of Son Kim 1 and Huong Khe has profound political, social and humanistic significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party and State to the people, soldiers, especially students in the border areas of the Fatherland.
Son Kim 1 Primary - Secondary Boarding School has a modern scale with 40 classes, 1,330 students with a total investment of about 140.7 billion VND. The project is deployed on an area of 4.5 hectares, including the following items: Primary School Building with 13 classrooms, about 2,500m2; Secondary School Building with 15 classrooms, about 3,200m2; Boarding Area with a total of 59 rooms, about 1,800m2.
The project to build Huong Khe Primary and Secondary Boarding School has a total investment of about 154.06 billion VND on an area of 5 hectares, including construction items: Primary block with a scale of 15 classrooms, an area of about 2,300m2. Secondary block with a scale of 25 classrooms, an area of about 5,100m2. Boarding area has a total of 24 rooms, a total area of about 1,400m2.
In addition, the school campus will be invested in administrative buildings, multi-function buildings, indoor swimming pools, kitchens, canteens, medical rooms, synchronous fire prevention and fighting systems, green campuses, etc.
Two projects to build a border boarding school in Ha Tinh will be handed over and put into use before August 30, 2026, in time for the 2026-2027 school year. After completion, Son Kim 1 Primary-Middle School and Huong Khe Primary-Middle School will fully meet the teaching and learning needs of the school and students in Son Kim 1 commune and some neighboring localities, creating conditions for students to receive comprehensive education in both intelligence and physical development, and to develop in a modern, safe and friendly pedagogical environment.
According to Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, Nguyen Thi Nguyet, through many stages of development, the Party Committee and people of Ha Tinh have always identified education and building school facilities in border areas as top priority tasks, because this place "is a fortress of cultural knowledge and patriotism at the border".
Implementing the Politburo's conclusions, Ha Tinh province has proactively reviewed, planned and proposed to invest in the construction of 7 inter-level schools in 7 border communes, with a total investment of more than 740 billion VND. These are key projects of special significance to the province, with pioneering significance and symbolizing the province's determination to bring the Politburo's policies into life.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister presented 1,275 warm coats to the school’s students. On this occasion, Comrade Nguyen Nguyen Hoa Binh also visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station.
