Turning ideas into lasting legacies

Born and raised in Vietnam, Architect Nguyen Phuc Minh always had the desire to bring Vietnamese architecture to the world . After graduating from Bath University (UK) and working for 8 years at Foster + Partners - one of the world's leading architectural firms in London - Minh returned to Vietnam with his partner to found MPN + Partners in 2012. After just over a decade, this office has become one of the internationally recognized design companies, with a special philosophy of "Mindfulness + Emptiness", aiming for originality and breakthrough in each project.

For Mr. Minh, architecture is not just a place to live or a simple space to use. Each project must be a work of art that leaves lasting value for future generations. That mindset has created a unique mark for him and MPN+ Partners in their creative journey. His projects always seek to harmonize nature, culture and technology, thereby bringing human and community values that go beyond aesthetics.

A typical example is the Hong Ngoc - Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital in Hanoi . Designed with the idea of "Healing Resort" - a healing resort hospital - this project breaks the stereotype that hospitals are dry and cold places. Instead, the 16-storey building is shaped like a block of green stairs, integrating a wide porch and open space so that patients can have privacy and connect with nature and the community. With this breakthrough idea, the project received the Silver Prize of the National Architecture Award 2024-2025, and became a Global Finalist 2025. Previously, the hospital was also nominated at the World Architecture Festival 2022 and won the Second Prize of ENR Global Best Healthcare in 2021. Mr. Minh believes: "The hospital is not only a place to treat diseases, but also a living space, an active part in the journey of comprehensive, sustainable and humane healthcare."

Not stopping at medical projects, Mr. Minh and his colleagues have also made a splash with many other international projects. OIS International School was conceived by him as a “Knowledge Park”, where students can interact with nature in an open space. This design helped MPN+ Partners win the Platinum Award at the International Excellence Award 2025. The Indian War Museum, another international project, broke the concept of a closed museum to turn it into a global cultural park, and won the Third Prize awarded by the Indian Ministry of Defense . In addition, the 6-star Hotel and Exhibition Complex project in Ethiopia with a “never-ending” hotel design also shows the breakthrough creativity of him and his colleagues.

These projects, along with a series of resorts, hotels and cultural libraries under development, all have in common the aim of sustainable architecture, balancing creativity and the environment. This is also the reason why Architect Nguyen Phuc Minh has been continuously honored with many international and domestic awards, from the Platinum Prize and Silver Prize at the International Excellence Award 2025, to the Study UK Alumni Awards 2024, ENR Global Best Healthcare 2021, and many other prestigious titles.

If the works are a testament to creativity and perseverance, the Study UK Alumni Awards are the “bridge” that opens up new opportunities for Architect Nguyen Phuc Minh. Being honored in the Culture and Creativity category in 2024 and being in the Top 28 Global Finalists, he considers this an important milestone, bringing positive impacts to both his career and life.

“At work, the award has helped raise the reputation and brand of me and MPN+ Partners to an international level, opening up opportunities to cooperate with many global partners. In life, this is a strong source of motivation, affirming that the path of sustainable and humane architecture that I am pursuing is the right one, ” he shared.

Since the award, MPN+ Partners has been even more steadfast in its design philosophy of “Mindfulness + Emptiness”. The office has set a goal that by 2025, the entire project will be developed according to the Net-Zero strategy, combining BIM, energy simulation and virtual reality (VR) technology to optimize the design. This is a step that demonstrates the long-term vision of Mr. Minh and his colleagues in creating timeless works, contributing to shaping a sustainable living environment for the community.

In addition to his professional creativity, Mr. Minh also considers guiding and inspiring the younger generation an important responsibility. He actively participates in domestic and international architectural forums, directly instructs students and young architects, and shares about sustainable thinking and social responsibility in the profession. For him, the Study UK Alumni Awards are not only a personal recognition, but also a platform to spread positive values, connect the UK alumni community and build trust with colleagues and customers.

“I chose to participate because I believe that every individual has their own story. The award not only honors achievements, but also opens up opportunities to share and spread the values that the alumni community brings. For me, this is a bridge between UK education and the creative journey in Vietnam, helping projects become more widely known and encouraging the younger generation to boldly step out into the world, ” Minh emphasized.

As the Study UK Alumni Awards 2026 is about to kick off, the journey of architect Nguyen Phuc Minh is proof that an award does not stop at the ceremony. It opens the door for each individual to turn creativity into heritage, so that Vietnam can have more architectural voices admired and recognized by the international community.
