Chevening Scholarships cover the full cost of one year of study for master's programmes at more than 150 universities in the UK, while also providing opportunities for scholars to access professional development programmes and cultural experiences in the UK.

Chevening Scholarships seek candidates from all walks of life and across a wide range of professions. Applicants need to demonstrate a commitment and skills to make a positive difference and demonstrate how a master’s degree in the UK will help them achieve this.

To be eligible for a Chevening scholarship, applicants must be Vietnamese citizens, have graduated from university with good academic records, have at least 2 years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 working hours) after graduating from university, and commit to returning to Vietnam to work for at least 2 years after completing the course.

Applications must be submitted by October 7 at www.chevening.org/apply.

In the 2026-2027 academic year, the British Government plans to continue to provide about 20 scholarships for Vietnam.

This school year, the application regulations have many changes compared to previous years, including:

● Work experience is only counted after the date of university graduation, experience during study period will not be counted.

● While the essay topics remain the same, the questions have been updated and will include sub-questions. This allows students to provide more real-life examples, limits the use of artificial intelligence in their answers, and makes it easier to link course choices to UK priority areas.

● The word limit for each question will be 300 words, instead of 500 words as before.

● Applicants must link their course choice to one of the following areas: Promoting growth and prosperity; Building resilience in the context of climate change; Enhancing security and stability; Supporting inclusive and effective development for society.

● If applying from an ODA recipient country, the applicant must reside in that country. This country does not necessarily have to be the applicant's country of nationality.
