Preparing for Dinh Thay Thim Festival 2024

Dinh Thay Thim Festival will take place for 3 days, from October 16 to 18, 2024 (14th, 15th and 16th of the 9th lunar month), with many attractive cultural, artistic and sports activities. In order to prepare carefully for the festival, since the beginning of August, the People's Committee of La Gi town has issued a plan to deploy work to serve the people and tourists.

The 2024 Dinh Thay Thim Cultural - Tourism Festival of La Gi town will be held in Tan Tien commune. According to the plan, from 5:00 a.m. on October 16, 2024, the ceremony to welcome the gods, receive the royal decree and the certificate of recognition of the relic will take place. Immediately after that, there will be activities such as the ceremony to enter the temple, opening the incense offering festival to commemorate Thay Thim... Interspersed between the ceremony are the contents of the festival with meaningful and exciting content and games imbued with the coastal character. These are the 2024 La Gi Town Open Cycling Race and the Cross-Country Race taking place on October 6 and October 13; visiting the exhibition of Thay Thim legend models, performing Lion - Lion - Dragon, chess games, making cakes, bird singing contest, tug of war, dragon fruit harvesting competition, blindfolded duck catching, blindfolded clay pot smashing at the Dinh Thay Thim campus. At Tam Tan beach, there will be games of carrying baskets out to sea, carrying fish, and weaving nets.

Dinh Thay Thim Festival is one of the five typical cultural festivals chosen by Binh Thuan province to serve local tourism development. In 1997, Dinh Thay Thim was recognized as a national relic and by 2022, Dinh Thay Thim Cultural - Tourism Festival was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Therefore, according to Ms. Dang Thi Hong Lam - Vice Chairman of La Gi Town People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee: Dinh Thay Thim Cultural - Tourism Festival will still be preserved, conserved, and fully maintained in terms of time, space, order, and method of practicing rituals to create a sacred space, along with folk games according to the long-standing customs of the local community. In particular, on the afternoon of October 16, at the opening ceremony of the festival, people and tourists will be able to watch a theatrical performance about the legend of Thay and Thim, to review the merits of the benevolent Taoist priest, who had many noble deeds, helping people build boats, prescribing medicine to cure diseases, helping fishermen in big waves and strong winds, and even taming wild animals... From there, they will better understand the value of cultural heritage and spiritual tourism destinations of the province.

In the festival preparation plan, the Town People's Committee assigned specific tasks to the Management Board of the Dinh Thay Thim Historical and Cultural Relic and related agencies and units to coordinate in promoting the festival. At the same time, prepare plans to clean up and collect garbage in the Dinh and Tomb of Thay Thim; ensure first aid and food hygiene and safety. Rearrange businesses and parking lots in an orderly, neat and airy manner, with signs to guide vehicles in and out, and list prices. Regularly check and rectify the situation of beggars, street vendors, lottery ticket sellers who cling to and solicit tourists, causing disorder.

In addition, the Town People's Committee requested to develop a plan to assign and arrange forces to be on duty 24/7 to ensure absolute safety and security before, during and after the festival. Proactively take measures to actively fight and prevent serious crimes or social order complications, prevent fires and explosions, and prevent traffic jams on traffic routes in the town. Arrange accommodation for visitors to stay at the palace, ensuring cultural security throughout the festival.
