K-Speech 2025 Korean Speech Contest Finals: More than 170 contestants compete, spreading the message of peace

The final round of the 29th K-Speech Korean Speech Contest with the slogan "For Korean communication and world peace" recently took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

This year, the final round gathered more than 170 individual and group speakers from 24 countries and territories, such as Korea, Vietnam, India, Ethiopia, France, Australia... This is an annual event hosted by the K-speech Korean Speech Association, in coordination with many domestic and foreign units.

With two forms of competition including individual and group speeches, the competition is not only a place for contestants to demonstrate their Korean language skills, but also a forum aiming to promote international friendship, cultural exchange and spread the value of sustainable peace .

Guests attending the event included Mr. Kwon Tae Han, Deputy Consul General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Kim Gyeong Seok, President of the K-speech Korean Speech Association; Mr. Ahn Chi Bok, President of the K-speech Korean Speech Association in Vietnam; Ms. Lee Sook Jin, CEO of Jae My Holdings Group.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Le Hoang Dung, Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that this is an important activity, marking a new chapter in the journey of promoting Korean language and culture, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cultural and linguistic exchange between Vietnam and Korea.

"We are proud to have contributed to building and developing the Vietnam - Korea friendship, further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the two countries have committed to," emphasized Dr. Le Hoang Dung.

This year's contest revolves around the themes of Korean language values ​​and culture, school violence prevention, community safety, and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The contestants also brought stories of fostering friendship between Korea and their homeland, and experiencing the “Hallyu wave”. The presence of contestants from countries such as England, France, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia… shows that K-Speech has reached far from Asia to Europe and Africa, becoming a bridge of exchange that transcends all barriers of nationality and ethnicity.

In the end, the first prize in the college-university group competition this year went to the team of students from the Korean Studies Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. The highest prize of this competition - the Korean Presidential Award worth 3 million Won - went to Ms. Jo Jin-sook (69 years old, Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province).

University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University, has a team from the Korean Studies department that won third prize.
