Support forces help schools overcome the effects of landslides. |
Then Chu Phin Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities is located in the border commune of Thanh Tin ( Tuyen Quang ), has one main campus and one separate campus, with 400 students; 261 students are in boarding school.
Prolonged heavy rain caused rocks and soil to flood into the classrooms and yard of Then Chu Phin Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, causing many books and school supplies of students to be heavily wet, and some documents and records of the school were also affected.
The cooperation helps teachers and students feel secure entering the new school year. |
Faced with that situation, the Thanh Tin Commune Youth Union quickly mobilized more than 20 youth union members to coordinate with the Commune Police force, officers and soldiers of Thanh Tin Border Guard Station to arrive promptly to support the school in clearing rocks and soil, and cleaning the school grounds.
The narrow terrain behind the classrooms made it impossible to bring in machinery, so all the work had to be done manually.
Teachers also put aside their preparations for the new school year to focus on drying books and documents, keeping each page for students.
Ms. Le Thi Nhu Hoa, Principal of the school, shared: “The image of youth union members, commune police and border guards with shovels and hoes in the hot weather left many emotions. It was not only an action to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, but also a deep affection and responsibility for education in disadvantaged areas.”
Thanks to the quick response, high sense of responsibility and cooperation of the community, Then Chu Phin Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities has basically overcome the damage and is ready to welcome students from the highlands back to school in the best conditions.
