Mr. Vo Duc Trong - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the conference.

According to Mr. Vo Duc Trong - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, during the period of implementing multidimensional poverty standards (2021-2025), the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction has fundamentally changed in terms of goals, requirements and demands, which are higher than the previous period.

In particular, poverty reduction was difficult before, and this period is even more difficult. In addition to income, we must also reduce 6 other basic social service shortages, and completely change the support mechanism from giving to conditional support.

According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Duc Trong, the activity of caring for the poor is a noble and humane act and is carried out seriously. In fact, in the province, there have been many projects to support poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty in a variety of fields such as agriculture , livestock, non-agriculture, small-scale industry, etc.

Many localities have flexible and effective approaches. Projects are targeted at a variety of subjects, not just poor households as before. In implementing poverty reduction, all levels and sectors focus on “giving fishing rods” rather than just “giving fish” as before. The results achieved are also more stable and sustainable.

According to the results of the poverty review in the 2021-2023 period, the poverty rate in the province has gradually decreased over the years, from 1.83% in 2021, 1.09% in 2022 and 0.67% in 2023. In the 2021-2023 period, the emulation movement "Tay Ninh joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind" with the participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level, creating a widespread emulation movement.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation awarded certificates of merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement " Tay Ninh joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind" for the period 2021-2023.

In particular, the preferential credit policy of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has become an effective credit channel for the poor, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and creating many jobs for people. The total loan turnover for poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty in the period of 2021-2023 is over 294 billion VND.

Social security policies have been promoted, with over 40,700 health insurance cards issued to poor households, near-poor households, poor households in the province, and agricultural, forestry and fishery households. In addition, the poor, near-poor and policy families also enjoy policies such as monthly support, electricity bills, and Tet money with a total support budget of tens of billions of VND.

Over the past 3 years, the Fund for the Poor at 3 levels has mobilized over 67.9 billion VND. From the mobilized funds, the Fatherland Front at all levels has built and handed over 708 solidarity houses to poor, near-poor and extremely disadvantaged households, and repaired 96 houses. During the Tet holiday, the Fund Mobilization Committee at all levels mobilized and presented 217,000 Tet gifts and cash to poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households.

The district and commune level Fatherland Fronts coordinate to mobilize people to unite, help each other develop the economy, increase income, reduce the poverty rate, and mobilize the construction and maintenance of models to help each other sustainably reduce poverty. Thereby, many activities to support trees, breeds, help each other overcome difficulties, provide capital for business, trading, medical treatment, scholarships, etc. for poor and near-poor households, people with disabilities, and orphans worth over 70 billion VND.

In 2021, in response to the movement of the whole people participating in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, the Fatherland Front at all levels mobilized support resources to care for the disadvantaged and people in difficult circumstances affected by the epidemic. Thereby, receiving and supporting money, goods, necessities, medical supplies worth over 153 billion VND...

A household received cow support in Suoi Da commune, Duong Minh Chau district.

In addition to the achieved results, there are still places where poverty reduction and support for the poor have not been implemented well. According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Duc Trong: "Localities need to closely study and understand the needs and thoughts of the subjects to propose and build models that are truly suitable to the needs and capacities of the poor. From there, they can have a solid foundation for development."
