New chapter on science and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia

On March 10, 2025, within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's State visit to Indonesia, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung and Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto signed and exchanged a Letter of Intent on cooperation between the two Ministries in the field of science and technology, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The signing of the Letter of Intent has laid the foundation, opening a new chapter for the implementation of science and technology cooperation programs and projects between the two countries in the coming time.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and Minister Brian Yuliarto exchanged the Letter of Intent on cooperation between the two Ministries in the field of science and technology.

Previously, the two Ministers had a working session to discuss specific contents and cooperation possibilities between the two sides. Vietnam and Indonesia have many similarities in development orientation, aiming to overcome the middle-income trap and become a high-income developed country by 2045. Both countries have identified science and technology and digital transformation as the main driving force for breakthrough development and high growth in the coming period.

The two Ministers discussed major orientations and policies of each country on encouraging investment, mobilizing resources for science and technology development, strongly promoting research and development programs and projects, and enhancing the application of technology in economic sectors.

The two Ministers discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the two Ministries.

The two Ministers discussed and agreed to prioritize the implementation of cooperation programs between the two Ministries, and strengthen connections between research institutes, universities, startup centers, and innovation centers of the two sides./.
