Little-known teaching career
- Besides being an artist and soldier working in the art field, what do you want to share about your third career - pedagogy?
Colonel, PhD, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thu Ha : As Director of the Practical Arts Theater - University of Military Culture and Arts, our main task is to organize, produce and stage performing arts programs to serve major political events inside and outside the military.
As the name of the Practical Arts Theater suggests, this is where students of the Military University of Culture and Arts practice what they have learned, following the motto “Learning goes hand in hand with practice”. Through performing, students have access to many major programs and internships at art units.

That is also the school's training direction, helping students perfect their performance skills as well as accumulate stage experience during their internship.
This year, we are very happy that the school reopens the civil training system at all levels from intermediate to master's. In which, the master's level has the major of Cultural Management; the university level has the major of Arts (singing, dancing, music), Cultural Management, Journalism; the intermediate level has the major of Arts (singing, dancing, music).
I hope the school continues to be a place to provide abundant, quality human resources for art units in the Army as well as the country's art scene.
As an artist - soldier working in the field of art, I also teach at the Military University of Culture and Arts, Vietnam Dance Academy, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, Political Officer School... with the desire to not only teach knowledge but also pass on my practical experiences to the younger generation.

With more than 35 years of working in the art field, I am always dedicated, constantly studying and researching, innovating, creating works and art programs to spread beautiful images of the homeland, examples of sacrifice for the Fatherland, images of Uncle Ho's soldiers...
These works are imbued with national identity, contributing to the cause of building and developing cultural arts, arousing optimism, passion for artistic creation, and inspiring generations of students.
Being strict at work is natural.
- As a Colonel, PhD, and People's Artist, how do you behave in front of students? Can having too many titles and positions be a barrier between you and the person you are talking to?
I have never kept a distance from the people around me. I am always friendly and caring towards the students, but I am also strict in my staging. When doing tasks and staging programs, strictness is a given!

There are big shows with many actors, there are shows on stage with thousands of people, if the work is not scientific and strict, it is difficult to succeed. Especially, for those working in the arts, stage discipline, strictness and meticulousness with the profession are always the strength to succeed.
However, outside of my duties, I am always sociable and close to my students; I often encourage and motivate them to overcome difficulties to be passionate about their profession and enthusiastic about what they are passionate about and choose.
I think my enthusiasm, dedication to work, and full of energy are also my own way to inspire my students and employees.
If you do nothing you will fall ill.
- How do you arrange your time to complete the tasks assigned by your superiors?
Even though I maintain a working pace regardless of the time, rarely have weekends off, and almost always perform on holidays, I still often wish that there were more than 24 hours in a day so that I could have more time to work and research.

People often tease me: "Why do you always have so much energy?", and I just laugh. Energy is like a hot air balloon, sometimes it is very full, helping us fly high and far with our study and work goals, but it also deflates very quickly if we take on too many things and organize our work unscientifically.
Therefore, I always balance every day, time for sports practice, balance my mind and always be positive in life, share loving connections with everyone. And also thank God for giving me good health. Sometimes, I think if I had to stay home and do nothing all day, I would probably fall ill. (laughs out loud)
My duties sometimes come with great pressure. But with the spirit of a soldier, nothing is too difficult for me, I always overcome to complete all assigned tasks. And I feel extremely happy when my superiors trust me and assign me tasks so that I can freely create.

It will be time to retire! But as long as I am alive and working as an artist and soldier, I will be full of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to art, teaching, and scientific research.
Up to now, when my contributions have been recognized by the Party and the State, when many students of different generations have become famous, I am proud that I have lived up to the role of a soldier, an artist and a teacher.
I am always grateful to the Military University of Culture and Arts - where I have been attached for more than 35 years, thank the board of directors, teachers and colleagues for always caring and creating all conditions to help my dreams come true and I can freely contribute.
