The story of the American hostage-taking guerrilla group that helped Vietnam save Hero Nguyen Van Troi is a testament to the spirit of solidarity of the people of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
In the book “Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia, Africa and Latin America: Journeys, Friends”, readers also have the opportunity to re-read excerpts of touching pages in the memoir “Family, Friends and Country” by former VicePresident Nguyen Thi Binh.
In her memoir, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh also mentioned her deep impressions of Cuban President Fidel Castro and the Cuban people. Or the UTC (Venezuela) guerrilla group kidnapping an American lieutenant colonel in the capital Caracas as a hostage to demand the exchange of Hero Nguyen Van Troi.

In the letter sent to the seminar, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh commented: The book "Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia - Africa - Latin America: Milestones, Friends" has outlined the process of formation, operation and development of the Committee as well as the Committee's contributions to the cause of national liberation, national unification and building and defending the Fatherland of the Vietnamese people.
The book haseducational value, not only for today's generation but also for future generations, about the tradition of peace, solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese people and people of the world, and at the same time helps readers understand more about Vietnam's people-to-people diplomacy activities over the past decades.
Speaking at the talk show to launch the book “Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia, Africa and Latin America: Journeys and Friends”, former Ambassador Nguyen Quang Khai said that the assistance of Middle Eastern and African countries to Vietnam during the period of Resistance War against the US and the renovation was not less than that of Socialist countries.
During his 37 years in diplomacy , former Ambassador Nguyen Quang Khai worked in many Middle Eastern countries, as Vietnamese Ambassador to Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon and the UAE.
According to the former ambassador, the conditions of African countries are not so good compared to ours, but when it comes to Vietnam, you are ready to support in every way. Even countries with extremely difficult conditions such as Somalia, Djibouti, Zimbabwe... you are ready to support materially and humanly to help Vietnam establish diplomatic representative agencies.
Not only the local authorities, but also the people of African and Middle Eastern countries have special feelings for Vietnam through demonstrations and marches showing support for Vietnam's struggle in the Resistance War against America.
"Even in Iraq, there is a whole "Vietnam" village, with people named "Vietnam" by their parents to show their support for the Vietnamese people." Former Ambassador Khai said.
Readers can find all of the above in the book "The Journeys, the Friends", pages that clearly describe the street demonstrations in support of Vietnam against the US invasion all over the world, including in the US; the movement to support Vietnam in healing the wounds after the war, removing the siege and embargo...
The above stories are just some of the many ways in which Asian, African and Latin American countries have supported Vietnam in solidarity. This is also an important foundation that has contributed to the development of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity and Cooperation in Asia, Africa and Latin America over the past 70 years.
