Le Dinh Minh martial arts school (in Hoa Cu area, Nhon Hung ward, An Nhon town, Binh Dinh) was established in 1995, but has been inactive since 2010. With the desire to preserve family traditions and the traditional martial arts tradition of Binh Dinh, teacher Le Thi Thao, daughter of martial arts master Le Dinh Minh, helped her father restore and develop the martial arts school.
Thao was born in 1990 and is currently an Art teacher at Nhon Khanh Primary School, An Nhon Town. In addition to her talent for painting, Thao is passionate about Binh Dinh traditional martial arts. In 2024, she was awarded a provincial-level certificate by the Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts Federation.

Thao shared that to restore the martial arts school, she confided her wishes and received her father's consent; found documents and information about the school's activities such as certificates of merit, achievements, etc.; reconnected with martial arts students who were her father's students; completed the procedures and asked for the opinion of the People's Committee of An Nhon town on restoring the martial arts school. By October 2023, with the attention of the town leaders and the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of An Nhon town, Le Dinh Minh martial arts school was restored and the first club was established, the An Nhon Martial Arts Club, operating at the square of the town's Cultural Center. "Previously, Le Dinh Minh martial arts school also had many outstanding achievements in An Nhon, so now that it has been re-established, it is also supported by the people, which is an advantage for me to easily recruit students and build quickly," Ms. Thao added.
Not stopping there, on March 9, Le Dinh Minh martial arts school coordinated with Nhon Phong Commune Youth Union (An Nhon town) to launch the second martial arts club named Nhon Phong Martial Arts Club operating at the commune's Cultural House. Martial arts master Le Dinh Minh excitedly said that although it was only established not long ago, there are currently more than 30 martial arts students in the commune participating in training.
Recalling the opportunity to come to Binh Dinh traditional martial arts, martial arts master Le Dinh Minh confided that his real name is Le Van Minh, born in 1967, in Hoa Cu area, Nhon Hung ward. He became involved with martial arts at the age of 16 (in 1983), at that time he studied the Hong Ky sect founded by the late great martial arts master Le Dinh Ngai and directly taught by teacher Dang Duc Binh.
After many years of diligent training, the young Minh enthusiastically participated in inter-provincial martial arts tournaments. In 1989, in his home district, a martial arts tournament was organized, and martial artist Dang Duc Minh (who competed under the surname of his master Dang Duc Binh) won the championship in the 57kg weight class. After that, he continued to follow master Binh to train many martial artists who won many gold and silver medals at district and provincial tournaments.
At the age of 29, Mr. Minh officially... started his own school, named Le Dinh Minh Martial Arts School. In 2005, martial artist Minh took the exam to obtain a Coaching Certificate issued by the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation. From then on, he began to personally lead his students to participate in many inter-district and inter-provincial tournaments and achieved many outstanding awards, typically martial artist Nguyen Thanh Hieu and martial artist Nguyen Son Long won the Gold Medal at the Central Highlands Tournament in Phu Yen in 2005; martial artist Le Tan Ha won the Silver Medal at the Binh Dinh Province Youth Martial Arts Tournament in 2006...
In 2007, Le Dinh Minh martial arts school coordinated with the Center for Culture - Information and Sports of An Nhon district to organize inter-provincial martial arts - boxing competitions in Phu Yen, Quang Ngai and Khanh Hoa. The contributions of Le Dinh Minh martial arts school have contributed to the development of martial arts and sports movements in the province. However, due to economic difficulties, in 2010, Le Dinh Minh martial arts school stopped operating, martial arts master Minh focused on making a living to raise his daughter to study, he shared with many regrets.
With the help of his daughter, after nearly 2 years of re-opening (from October 2023 to present), Le Dinh Minh martial arts school has attracted a large number of students (aged 6-17) in An Nhon town to participate in martial arts training to improve their health with traditional martial arts training content, traditional martial arts fighting. In addition, there are self-defense training programs, real combat fighting, Muay, elbow and knee, strangulation, kick boxing, boxing.
Huynh Bao Yen (16 years old), a student at Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School, An Nhon town, said that she has been studying martial arts at Le Dinh Minh Martial Arts School, fighting style, for 1 year. The class time is continuous from Monday to Saturday (2 hours each day, from 6-8 pm) at the square of An Nhon town Cultural Center. "At first, I felt tired when I started practicing, but later on, I became stronger, more flexible and very happy," Yen confided.
Mr. Le Trong Thu, Deputy Director of the Center for Culture - Information and Sports of An Nhon town, and Vice President of the Martial Arts Association of An Nhon town, commented that An Nhon is proud to be the center of the martial arts land of Binh Dinh; the place that has produced, nurtured and gathered many heroes and famous martial artists, and is also the place that has trained and nurtured many famous athletes and martial artists, who have brought glory to the land of martial arts. The martial arts movement here is increasingly developing.
To develop martial arts activities in the locality, An Nhon Martial Arts Association always focuses on developing clubs, including some martial arts clubs at schools. Up to now, An Nhon has 26 martial arts schools with many clubs operating effectively. This is a good sign for the traditional martial arts heritage of Binh Dinh, which is being cared for and preserved by the younger generation, including young, enthusiastic people like teacher Thao.
